Moving to DFW..help
Job is transferring me to the area. What the car scene like there, road course, drag strips and trail riding? Just starting the home search as well. Married father of four any input would be great. The job is located in Fort Worth.

I'm one of the "instigators" of that Rosas's GTG U17 sent...almost 8 yrs every Wed night weather permitting.
Great Schools in the Grapevine-Colleyville, Southlake and Keller ISDs..
West of DFW Airport and close to great shopping (NE Mall, Southlake Town Center and Grapevine Historic downtown)...midway between Dallas and Ft Worth but Tarrant county taxes are lower than Dallas and Collin, esp if you will be working in FTW.
Send PM with some desired housing info & Job Location if you want more details and/or some realtor contacts.
Welcome to Texas!

There are also 2 "Cars & Coffee" events...
1st Saturday monthly - Plano area (Far Northeast) as many as 1000 cars dealer sponsored show with lots of uniques and import/exotics (seems like on and off not terribly Corvette friendly although may be getting better)
http://dallas.carsandcoffee.info/
2nd Saturday alt months - Ft Worth.. No where near the crowds or organization ...but usually 100-150 cars and all yrs and makes are welcome...new old and otherwise ...

There are two large Corvette clubs in the DFW area. If you have a C5, C6, or C7 (or just like them) there are the Cowtown Vettes in Fort Worth and the Lone Star Corvette Club (LSCC). LSCC is a huge club and as with Cowtown Vettes, mostly couples middle-aged and older (I am a youthful 64).
There is Texas Motor Speedway (TMS) north of Fort Worth that no one has mentioned. LSCC holds their huge annual "Corvette Classic" there in May. The club, that weekend, offers autocross, road racing, laps around the speedway, a car show, and a hugely popular police-escorted caravan from TMS to a BBQ dinner at the Fort Worth Stockyards!
There are a bunch of area dragstrips: Texas Raceway, an 1/8 mile strip in Kennedale (SE of Fort Worth), Dallas Raceway (actually in Crandall, SE of Dallas), Yello Belly Raceway in Grand Prairie, TX, and the big daddy of them all Texas Motorplex (south of Dallas near Waxahachie).
There are loads of car shows every weekend, mostly March-November and usually all cars, even new ones, are welcome.

Welcome!!! Yes there are 2 road course tracks and more than a few drag strips. There's also a decent underground scene. Drop me a PM when you get here and I'll be happy to show you around.
