Custom BBP Rear Brake Duct Mod Days 3 & 4
If you missed days 1 and 2 progress in pictures you can find the pictures here:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1736069
For the rest of you here are the pictures from the third and fourth day.
Day 3
After a good nights sleep I was able to look at the ducts with a more critical eye and I decided that I didn't like the extra grove below the duct opening so I filled it in
I also felt that the ridge that runs in front of the opening was too wide and flat so I sanded it down to create a sharper more defined ridge
These touch ups along with trying to make sure all the joints are filled in and sanded to give the ducts a smooth seamless look took about 4 hours
Day 4
During my lunch break I went to three different auto paint shops to get quotes. I explained to each of them that I would have the ducts and rocker panels primed, wet sanded and ready for painting. The first shop quoted me $800 and then criticized my workmanship. The second shop quoted me $400 and the last shop, Dream Work Customs, which Cobra4b recommended quoted me $350 and told me not to worry about the final priming and sanding that they would take care of if for me all I needed to do was finish shaping, sand to 180 grit and hit the rest of the rocker panels with 1000 grit wet.
Wet sanding the untouched part of the rocker panel with 1000 grit
Here she is all ready (fingers crossed) to drop off at Dream Works
Customs
Oh, did I mention that Dream Works is painting these for me too
With a little luck I will have the Vette back on Friday afternoon and I will post pics of how everything turned out after, of course, I have had the chance to get her nice and shiny.......
