Default ***Chuck from CoW tuning in San Diego in May, post if your in!!***

I just got off the phone with Chuck and he set a tentative date one of the first two weekends in May to tune at least 10 cars in SD. C5s, C6s, any GM cars, etc. for $350.00!!! And will tune for 91 Octane! http://www.corvettes-of-westchester.com/main.htm

I have spoken with a lot of people who have been to Chuck for tuning and are VERY happy with the results

So who is in FOR SURE???

I am currently working on finding a location (shop) in the SD area and will update this thread when I find one that will host us.

But plan for one of the first two weekends in May!

I read his other thread and the info about tuning on that website. With only my minor mods, can I really expect much gain?

What mods do you have?

Have you read this thread...
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1664081

I would suggest calling him and talking to him for details of the improvements you will see. IMHO, even with minor mods such as intake and catback you will feel improvements (SOTP) as compared to the stock tune. One reason I would reccommend it is that Chuck does real-time tuning (ie while your driving on the street) as opposed to the dyno-tuning methods other tuners use. I have had my car tuned 4 times and the best tune I ever had was done this way. You will notice more of a difference driving the car on the street than what dyno numbers will show.

My mods are listed in my sig, only rocking Halltech and Borla Stingers. I think I'll wait till I replace my intake manifold and some other bolt on's before getting the car dialed in.

would recommend the dyno shop in santee..they did my 01 about a yr ago...made a big difference...with air box zip tie..and coupler. x-pipe and b& b prt's , i got 373rwhp and about 362 tq..
i was very happy with results..and for an 01 those were great numbers..
they did about 13 pulls for $400, set the cooling fans etc..

Those are good numbers!

And that is a really good price!

I have had my car dyno-tuned 3 different times from reputable tuners and the reason I and others are excited about Chuck coming is he does all the tuning in car on the street. I have had this done once before when I lived in another state (with better fuel) and my car was dialed in as perfect as could be. To date, this is the best tune I've had. I am a huge advocate for the street tuning method!!

Default Is this still on the table?

I'm sorry, I was in Yuma for the month, but I'm back. Is this still an option, it doesn't look like many people signed up. Anyway, you can put my name on the list, if Chuck comes out I'm definitely in.

Okay, I'm trying to understand exactly what you mean "he tunes on the street". You drive around with him and he tunes then what? How do you verfiy the work? How does he know the A/F without using a dyno. It's not that I car about the actual numbers (hp & tq) but they do provide some feedback of tuning efforts and, of course, the A/F is essential to a safe tune.

I'm in Chuck, but one question. I read most of the other threads about your tuning abilities and you say you need two things for a good tune. Use quality gas (no problem) and get at 160 thermostat. (Problem)

Do I need to put one in before I see you or can you do it when you do the tune?

Here's the deal.....When I book the trip...(and call each of you for a deposit of $100)...I mail a low temp stat out to anyone who needs it....

I perfer whenever possible to have the stat instaled BEFORE I tune the car....Depending on the location we do the tuning, I can assist in stat installations if the owner of the location permits us to do so....Please realize that the tuning takes tons of time for me... I can also bring a vacuum evacuator to help refill the radiators if necessary.

Please do your best to install them BEFORE I get there.....and I'll ship them out to you as soon as you commit.

I'm gonna try to do a post very soon that shows "HOW TO" install the stats for those that need it.....

Call me if you need help.

Sounds like a plan, Chuck.

Now all we need is 6 more people. It's hard to believe with all the freakin' Corvettes in San Diego you can't find six people who want a killer tune.

If this doesn't work out in San Diego, maybe you could do it in L.A. or Orange County.

Chuck, Sounds like a good deal. Does your tune include removing CAGS, top end limiter, and AF mix across the board?

Thanks

I'm flexible on the dates also, I don't have any plans until the first weekend of June.
