Default New wheels are here! Pics included...

Ok, here's a couple shots of my new wheels. I know I deviated from the whole Z06 knock-off thing, but what they heck, SOMEBODY has to be different! In my defense, they ARE technically a split 5 spoke (sort of). I think they rock and it is, after all, my car.

For those of you that can help me with the sensors, please pay special attention to the last picture. It shows where the valve stem is. If I get the adaptors to make the sensors lay flat, will they work?

Supposedly, yes. Although I don't know where to get them. It is some sort of elbow that allows the sensor to lay flat. On the stock wheels the valve stem hole is at an angle apparently, where on 3 piece wheels it is bored vertically through the "barrel".

I have not seen a sensor nor have I seen an adaptor, so I was hestitant to order them. Was hoping someone with some experience could look at the wheel and know if it would fit.

I really like the wheels. I am however not able to offer any insight on your TPS question. Hopefully Shopdog will chime in.

I think you will have to band or epoxy your sensors to the wheels

Would like to see them on the car, but my honest opinion so far is that they are a little "bling" for the Vette. That style looks like it would be more at home on a truck or SUV. Just my .02

I've seen them on a Lambo Gallardo and a Mercedes SLR McClaren - they looked awesome on both of those. These are not made in truck/SUV sizes. This set was made specifically for the C6.

I wanted something different from the standard split 5 spoke that are on the bulk of the vettes.

I'll show pics with them on the car as soon as I have a car to put them on! (It's built, but don't pick it up from the museum until the 22nd.)

I knew not everyone would like them, but hey, that's why they make a ZILLION different wheels - to each his own, right?

What you need is on the right side. It's a bracket used to mount the sensor. This is how all my sensors are mounted on my wheels. No epoxy or bands in them and so far so good no problems whatsoever on them becoming loose.

What sizes are they? What size tires are you planning on running?

You might try something like this...

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1412003

I'm doing a variation of this tho. I took it to a shop who looked at the thread above and came up with the conclusion not to use the Epoxy or the band.

Instead he used some 3M tape, the same stuff they use when putting weights on the wheels for balencing. It's the same concept tho. Cut the stem and attach the sensor in the dip or whatever on the wheel and use a regular stem.

I'm hoping the 3M double tape holds...so we'll see how it goes. Just gotta make sure the shop is very careful when removing or mounting tires...

I am assuming you had these fabricated or did you buy the brackets and then just drill the holes?

What size is the bracket?

Also, how exactly was the sensor mounted? Any pics of that?

I have a set of DPE's that I am running w/o sensors right now and was going to epoxy or JB Weld them but this is the way to go.

Thanks for sharing.

I hope I'm wrong, but pretty sure your sensors are gonna come loose.
A wheel weight has all the force pushing it into the wheel, wheras your sensors have all the force trying to throw them off. Like I said, hope I'm wrong, but I found out the hard way on a set of IForged wheels. I used the strongest epoxy I could find & they still came loose after a short period of time.
