Header install Pictures
I did this Sat. It took me all day. Man I knew it was going to be a job but I didn't know it was going to be that bad. I dint think there was anything easy to get off the car. But it was well worth it. I am using 02 sims with no cats. The car sounds awesome. I have a Magnaflow X pipe muffler where the resonator was, and stainless Magnaflow mufflers in the back. I think I have the perfect combo as far as sound goes. When I nail it, man it sounds mean!!
The cats on this car were the size of bowling *****!

Those look very nice. What brand are they? Did you have to weld anything? I'm trying to get some people who are interested in buying headers so we can ask for a group purchase. The link is http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1389317 .

I should have just pulled the motor and stroked it while I was at it

Regardless of price tho, I put these last on my list. I'm just afraid that whoever does the work might not set it up 100% and then I'm forced to live with whining or shutter. Sure you expect it done right but i've seen this go bad too many times. Besides, I don't want to have to shift at the 1/4 mile mark as I cross the line . I put the spray next in line for mods. Approx 1K for a FULL kit with safetys and approx 100HP gain. You just can't beat it....IMO Enjoy the headers!

Yes these are TPIS. Great set of headers. They allow you to reuse all of your factory bolts, which you need on the drivers side for alternator and AC supporting arms. I had to weld header extensions to the factory pipes to hook everything up. The extensions will slip over the end of the header then you just use a stainless band clamp.
Man I wish it would quit raining here its hard to hook up on wet roads !!!

Gas mileage on the street will drop because you find yourself nailing the throttle more often. But I still averaged 25.9 mpg on a 1000 mile round-trip to Oregon..... and that was with me doing 80-90mph the whole way.

Nice job on the headers. Brings back memories of when I installed my EM headers. I thought the job was ok, just very time consuming. I had a friend help, and we had lots of beer. Headers are great mods for these cars.

Where did you get the band clamps and the headers extensions?
So you didn't get new bolts, but used the same one's that were on the manifolds? I am going to use ARP bolts, I won't have a problem with the accessories will I?
