***GROND ain't got **** on this!!!*** 4th installment
PART 1
PART 2
PART 3
Decided to start a new thread because I made the turn tonight, no more taking apart Started putting her back together.
Borrowed the crane valve spring tool from a local buddy. Man is this tool a time saver, it's amazing. Yeah it's $100, but if I didn't have a local friend w/ one I'd have bought it anyway and sold it for most of what I'd paid... it's that good. You bolt the tool to the holes where the rockers go. Then put the top plate over the spring retainers and torque down to compress the springs. Use the F-body spring/cam swap how-to on www.ls1howto.com for full instructions. I used my air compressor @ 70 psi to keep the valves up so I didn't have to mess w/ turning the motor over.
#2 cylinder done
On the #6 cylinder I hit a snag... when I released the tool air was still pouring out of the exhaust port. I got a bit worried and though maybe I'd somehow bent a valve spring. See the story here
HELP: valve spring swap w/ air compressor, now #6 exhaust not sealing?!?!
All is now well... a rubber mallet came in might handy to tap the valves after assembled to make the valves re-seat under spring pressure.
Taking my time I finished them all! You know you're cool when your springs match you car
The old '01 stocers w/ 63k on them and lots of track days
I also replaced all the valve seals. On the '01 the seal and the valve seat are still 2 seperate pieces. The intake and exhaust vavle seals are different. Again ls1howto.com has the instructions.
Throttle-body dried today so I decided to install it to the manifold w/ a new GM gasket.
Here's how she'll look... still haven't painted the top of the coil pack brackets... they'll be turquise to break up the black
Still waiting on my exhaust to come back from the ceramic coaters, the TS facia in the paint shop, and the new Dewitts racing radiator and oil cooler combo.

Thanks guys... can't wait to get my exhaust and radiator in. On and the painter sent me a message last night to let me know they got a good match on the mil yellow for the tiger shark
I took my stock bumper along w/ my headlamp doors over to him and basically said don't call me until this matches in real light and fake light.
