I used to do that as well. Get on my bike and hit the dealerships only the only thing I kept was a 72 NADA Rocky Mtn book. It had all the muscle cars and data on them:cool:

I remember something about hardened valve seats on the 71-72.
Lower compression is easier on the wallet at fill up.
I cant speak for 70 power but the 71 LT1 is plenty fun.

All your theorising might work when the car is still, but under way, cold air enters the cowl area under pressure. Thats why there are cowl vents. The side vents exhaust hot radiator and engine heat....
