Thanks for the comments guys, The BTE converter came with the correct shims and the converter was installed about 1/8 inch off the pump with plenty of snout in the crank. Still have not figured it...

I used lizard skin on my frame off but I can't imagine trying to spray it in the cockpit of an intact ride due to the overspray. I would go with the mat products.
