Dumb Mistake

I was changing out the battery in my 1968 C3 when I accidentally crossed the wires - the ground was RED (I thought red was HOT) - anyway it was only connected that way for a few seconds, but smoke...

I am looking for a steering wheel for my 68 that lloks close to original but with a smaller diameter - like about 14 inches. Any ideas or pictures. Also looking to put one of those "hidden" stereos...

Darn turn signal lever!
