Yes 4k is affordable as compared to 6 or 7k....... least in my opinion.

most people who have C6Z06 came from a modded up...

most people who have C6Z06 came from a modded up C5....gonna be hard to find someone to trade you. Best bet is probably take the hit on the car, sell it, and buy yourself a used Z....
