What happens if you accidentally pour in Coolant instead of Oil into motor?
If you were going to top off the oil and you accidentally poured in a splash of coolant would you harm the engine? Not a lot of coolant just an ounce or two.

Don't know, but I would change the oil IMMEDIATELY!

Won't hurt it unless you run it (blown head gaskets mix coolant and oil all the time) - change the oil before running it.

If you are anal about it, like most of us, you could have it towed to the dealer and have the engine cleaned with the that Bosch process. Kinda forces all the contaminants out and all the old oil, but it is usually only reserved for the older models with sludge buildup. |

If it was just a splash it shouldn't hurt it untill you get the oil changed. Anymore than that say like a cup or so I'd change the oil immediately before running it! :steering:

You have contaminated your oil and it needs to be changed right away... do not drive your car in the meantime.

Don't start the car, just change the oil. If you have already started it, just change it right away. All of the coolant is sitting on top of the oil in the pan and should come out when it is drained. Anything left behind will go away after the oil gets hot.

Buddy changed heads on his truck and dumped about a quart or more of coolant in his oil. Then tried to start it without changing oil. He is now in need of a new crank and bearings. Engine seized up on him. WHen we pulled the oil out, it looked like milk. It was that white and extremely thick.

Find a dealer or garage that has machine that flushes the oil. Try to find a machine made by Envirolution. It is completely safe for your car and you will be able to see everything that gets flushed out. Alot of major dealerships use these machines and are very pleased with them.

Don't start the car. The coolant will go to the bottom of pan. Drain oil and refill with regular oil to flush. Start car and let warm up. Drain oil again and check for coolant in bottom of drain pan. Repeat if needed. Then change filter and refill with Mobil 1. No harm if you didn't run the motor with it in.
