There was a time in the late 70's and early 80's when body color matched wheels was the thing. Chrome was here long before and after that!
Funny my last Vette ('01 Z06) had chromed Z06 wheels. The very idea of chrome on such a purposeful car seemed nuts to me, but I never did get around to replacing them with the proper ones! |

I'm with you. I like to see where the tire ends and the wheel begins.

You cant see the design very well unless your close, they do nothing to enhance the cars color and basically look like your driving on 4 spares. How can people like these wheels and pay for them? you couldn't give me a set. But what do I know? I'm the old "get off my lawn "guy. Ok let the destruction begin!

Mine is a 2010 and black wheels are not my thing. But if you like them, enjoy. That is why Baskin Robbins makes 32 flavors! |
White on black looks great IMO. Here's mine

Agree
I agree with the OP, the black does little for me so I stay with my chrome gumby's. To each his own. I think comp grey looks pretty good and also natural or polished aluminum. Maybe black wheels on a white vette would appeal to me.
Good thing they make styles and colors for everyone. |

That is absolutely the meanest, best-est, baddest look possible for a Vette -- and I'm a clueless, worn-out 63 year-old. I didn't know that this was "the modern" look. Years ago everything was chromed -- this new look fits my overall contrarian tendencies. I'm currently Vetteless, but a C6 like yours is my goal. The red calipers are the finishing touch. http://i1170.photobucket.com/albums/...ps77458d8e.gif |

I'm good with what ever color a person wants to put on their vette but I prefer chrome. I had a black truck in the late 80s and went with black rims. I hated the look so could never bring myself to do it again. At least I was ahead of my time. Black rims weren't popular at all back then.

haven't you actually found a thread once you read an OP's statement? or did you mean you needed to read 45 replies because you enjoy the topic so much? Yeah that must be it. No one would read 45 replies about a topic that bores them.

I used to feel the same way about black wheels, but then i got the bug to black out my Vette. First started with the grand sport fender badges, then side markers, and then the wheels. The black out look makes it look mean to me at least. But hey, to each his own.

Lot of comments of black wheels not popping/dull. Most wheels are gloss back. My wheels stay as shiny as my black car! So many compliments since I got them. Vary few when my vette had the stock 5 spokers
|
seems that too many hate chrome, or hate black...not me....I like them all, which doesn't mean Im gonna put either on my car....Id rather have Black Chrome....it is very hot!
and I like a silver or comp gray painted wheel better than black or chrome..... this is what makes corvettes interesting, to see what other owners do with their car....and we are lucky that there is so much aftermarket goods for the C6(but I am sometimes surprised at the crazy crap people put inside & out on these beauties....) |
