Two words: lemon law.

Take a bag chair dude down there in the am sit in front of the front door tell everyone that walks in how things are really going. You will get your car or cops will be called. When they arrive tell them the story show them the papers of where you bought the car. While your sitting there twitter everyone the photos of you sitting there. Act crazy but don't leave the chair.

Disrespect begets disrespect. Sometimes the customer thinks being a dick is going to get more done and I can promise you, it does not. I'm not saying for sure that's occurring here with your transaction, but as an owner of a business that has fairly high transaction averages, every once in a while a customer "escalates" to me that thinks his poop don't stink and if he's a real dick, I am pretty good at making him feel even more irritable and pissy.

I'm tending to agree. The OP has made his point, now it's time to take it private.

Oh, anybody giving a "One Star" rating on FB on 'hearsay' is :crazy2: If you personally did not have an issue with the dealer, you should stay out of it.

Lemon laws are to protect you against a faulty safety or operational issue after repeated attempts to correct that issie have failed. Missing door sills don't quite fit the bill! :D

Pisswilly 10-07-2013 09:50 PM

All that tracking with OnStar down the pissa!

Agreed. I was talking about the dealer holding it "as long as he wants". Lemon laws count days in the shop.

This guy has already paid for his care. How dare a dealer threaten to hold it.

The dealer didn't. An employee made the threat, ergo my post go talk tyo the owner of the dealership. The car leaves with the OP that same day!

Bottom line, being you are the owner of the car, I would set up a meeting with him, take a friend (as a witness) and confront him as to when you will get your car and all conditions involved (Such as sill replacement). That should (Your witness) suffice as a recording being a witness could testify in court if it came to that.

Also as some others have indicated get the owner involved, might be time for the GM to find a new job.

For a three time repeat SAFETY or OPERATIONAL issue in most jurisdictions. Read the laws.

harlold 10-07-2013 09:55 PM

Plenty of better dealers in NoVA, I'd simply avoid them.

Not quite.

At least in VA (Where the poster is from) only 1 serious safety repair is necessary.

if the car is in the shop for more than 30 days in the first 18 months it can be lemoned.

Indeed, most people overestimate the consumer protection the lemon law provides - the car has to basically be undriveable due to the unresolved issue. So if you have for example a bad CD player in the car - no matter how many times you take it in and its unresolved, you will not succeed with a lemon law claim on that and be able to get a new car or full refund.

KLLRVET 10-07-2013 10:07 PM

I don't understand, why dont you just take your car home? Bring the police with you, and the paperwork to prove ownership?

bigterpsfan 10-07-2013 10:08 PM

I live in MD and am tempted to roll down there with you.
