When are you buying your C7?
So are you going to wait until the C7 is readily available and the dealer will not give you crap for trade in (due to flood of C5/C6 trade ins)?
Prices for C5Z and C6 models are going to drop a little of course but with the current prices on low mile C5/C6 staying high in the 25k (C5) to 35k (C6), I can only assume there will be a drastic drop in summer. Dealers are going to have overstock of used C6's when people wanting a new C7 can't afford both. By overstock I mean, a few more than the average one or two C6/C5 per dealer. What I'm saying is that it will be a "buyer's market" for used C5 and C6 for a couple years, I think........LUCKY ME:rock: My answer to the question in original topic: I will buy a C7 (in about 5 years) when I need another because the C7 is so freaking beautiful:thumbs: |
If the first years don't have any crazy issues reported by December...
December. |
On a waiting list figure Nov or Dec. Not trading in, just gonna do a 2 year lease then buy the performance model in 2 years.

When I'm done enjoying present corvette c6 ...then I'll buy a c7.
3rd model year sounds about right. |
I'm gonna wait until the presidents day when the 2015 models are out. I'd like to get it sooner, but I don't want to pay mark ups and am always weary about the first model year. That and it gives me time to save at the same time. All pluses, only minus is the excruciating wait.
|
Time for a change ?
Even though I like what I've seen of the C7, I am slowly migrating towards the idea of buying the new SS as my primary dd. With my s/o and I in TX and grandchildren in N CA and the NW corner of CO, I really need a touring sedan. Then later on pick up an off lease C7 as a weekend car if I still want one.

I'm waiting to see performance numbers. If the Z51 is within a couple seconds lap times with the C6Z, then I'll buy the C7 as soon as I can. If it is not, then I'll buy the C6Z and wait for the C7Z.

Talking about crazy issues, it took two years before the flying C6 painted roofs (adhesive failure between the roof metal structure and the polycarbonate plastic skin) became well known with several safety recalls. :ack:

Done..deposit in January 2013,,
|
In a few years when I don't have to pay sticker price and I have all the cash saved!
|
Really like the car and all the new tech. that we saw at the reveal are very impressive. Will have to wait a few years though as we just bought a GS last year and really like it and don't want to take the hit on value.
|
I'll maybe buy in 2020-2025. I still need to find that jet steam blue grand sport to add to the C5 then maybe a c7 after that. While I love following the design and tech of the new C7, too rich for my blood....still need to save for retirement. Debt free at 43 but still have a ways to go before pulling the trigger on a $60K toy.

As soon as my number comes up (and there are no restraints on options I want). I already have my deposit in to hold my place in line (with a forum dealer). I am paying UNDER MSRP.
|
I am sitting #1 on the list, will have to pay MSRP, hope to get a break on the options.
|
Not before 5 years from now. I have to wait until they are in my price bracket. A new one would ruin me, a 5 year old model would be perfect.
|
I should have mine on the track sometime in Sept.:thumbs:
|
Love the C7 so far but waiting for several reasons. Like to see what the real world performance and road test are like. Worried about first year quality issues. My major issue is the auto transmission choice, or lack of a PDK. As much as I want to buy the C7 this might be the deal breaker for me depending on the performance of whatever they use. Very disappointed there will not be a PDK style option. I would be OK with something that performs as well as the AMG Speed-Shift if there is not a dual-disc option. I am also open minded enough to wait and see how the 6-speed performs after the programing upgrades. Until then, my gut is to wait for the rumored 8-speed. I am hoping it performs like the AMG auto if there is no PDK style transmission in the C7 future. Keeping my fingers crossed anyway.
|
Love my ZR and have GM extended warranty through 2016, so when the first Z model comes out with an A8, if I like it........
|
Sell my C5 summer of 2014, then order and take delivery of a 2015 around September.
|
I'm hoping and planning on an October delivery at the Museum.
|
Probably spring of 2015 when I am able to work and collect social security. I will use the social security check to make payments on the C7.
|
I'm aiming for the third year unless rumors tell me about a mid-year change around the corner. So 2016-2017. I could order one this year if I sold my C5, but I'm never selling that car, so I'll have to save up to add the C7 to my stable.

I'm waiting the perfomance version (zo6/zr1)
|
I'm waiting for them to finish painting the whole car, and for the deep discounts to begin. It doesn't matter how long it takes...

Love my current paid for white 2009 C6. I'll wait for the third model year. No first year for me. Been there, done that in 2005. Add a second year for cushion. Rationality over emotion.

Pending no drastic changes in tax law and personal finance situation, targeting early 2016 for a C7 purchase.
#1 Requirement: CASH !!! (no financing). |

In my case when it has the same or more power than my ZR1.
|
I should of traded my 2006 for a 2010 but wasn't impressed enough to spend the money with the C7 just around the corner. That was before reality set in, the length of time till dealers deal and C7 inventory builds, my C6 will be ten years old.

When laws of supply and demand are in my favor and they are being sold at invoice price by forum dealers. Not before and not until.

That should always depend on what the financing terms are at the time. Zero percent financing is a no brainer.

Right now my plan is to lease one next year. I'm torn between the coupe and drop bc I plan on keeping my c6 drop.
so I will say May 2014 at the earliest unless I hit the powerball before then |

I currently have Auto in my GS but If I do upgrade to the C-7 (more than likely) I would probably go for the stick.
Throwing out another opinion I would like to also go with automatic if they offer remote start as I am partial to warming the interior of the car during the winter months or cooling if off during the summer months. Gas Furnace Replacement |

When 0% financing is offered on a $60k car, but you offer to pay cash, they will give you a "cash discount" and you'll end up paying $55k or so. Now the $5k difference is the implicit interest rate on the $60k financed car at "zero percent financing." Rewording an agreement to sound like it's interest free does not make it interest-free. |
April/2014.
By the time it's available where I live it will be close to the snowy winter, so I'd rather wait for a full summer driving season + by then the price will probably be a bit lower too. |

Just as soon as GM will take my order. Hoping for musuem delivery in August/early Sept. (fingers crossed)
|
I am planning on getting one when I graduate in September 2014... Or at least order one then...
|
Plan is to pick up one around my 49th BD, so right at the end of the '16 MY. I like the 2 yr lease idea...
|
I will wait till 2015 for mine.
|
Hope to be getting into a Chrystal Red Vert around this time next year!

Put deposit down 2 weeks ago, number 20 on list...
Just need to decide color now

Maybe, maybe not. I tend to be a cash buyer myself. But when I bought my last BMW, first I negotiated the price of the car with no financing. When it came time to pick up the car, they had a 0.9% financing plan for the entire price of the car that was available. That's not zero, but in my mind 0.9% was a still a no brainer. On a $43,000 car the financing cost ~$790 total for a 4 year loan. Paying cash just didn't make sense. So like I said, it depends on the terms that are available at the time.

Must have been hard to move that BMW. Discounts and incentives are only used to sell what will not sell IMHO.

Well the entire line was not moving . They were stuck. No reason to give up profit if you do not have to.
You can argue with that but you need to justify your position. IMO |

But does not change my point that discounts and incentives are used to move cars that are not selling. Thus the BMW problem. IMO BMW is well marketed but over priced. |

I agree about your cash position. If a person pays cash they reduce their capital. It is better to keep your capital and have the car too.
