When are you buying your C7?
So are you going to wait until the C7 is readily available and the dealer will not give you crap for trade in (due to flood of C5/C6 trade ins)?
Prices for C5Z and C6 models are going to drop a little of course but with the current prices on low mile C5/C6 staying high in the 25k (C5) to 35k (C6), I can only assume there will be a drastic drop in summer.
Dealers are going to have overstock of used C6's when people wanting a new C7 can't afford both. By overstock I mean, a few more than the average one or two C6/C5 per dealer.
What I'm saying is that it will be a "buyer's market" for used C5 and C6 for a couple years, I think........LUCKY ME
My answer to the question in original topic:
I will buy a C7 (in about 5 years) when I need another because the C7 is so freaking beautiful
I'm gonna wait until the presidents day when the 2015 models are out. I'd like to get it sooner, but I don't want to pay mark ups and am always weary about the first model year. That and it gives me time to save at the same time. All pluses, only minus is the excruciating wait.
Even though I like what I've seen of the C7, I am slowly migrating towards the idea of buying the new SS as my primary dd. With my s/o and I in TX and grandchildren in N CA and the NW corner of CO, I really need a touring sedan. Then later on pick up an off lease C7 as a weekend car if I still want one.
If the first years don't have any crazy issues reported by December...
December.
Talking about crazy issues, it took two years before the flying C6 painted roofs (adhesive failure between the roof metal structure and the polycarbonate plastic skin) became well known with several safety recalls.

I'm waiting to see performance numbers. If the Z51 is within a couple seconds lap times with the C6Z, then I'll buy the C7 as soon as I can. If it is not, then I'll buy the C6Z and wait for the C7Z.

Uh Huh ............. And my '05 was one of them ................ along with the clutch pack issues, blah blah ...........
Really like the car and all the new tech. that we saw at the reveal are very impressive. Will have to wait a few years though as we just bought a GS last year and really like it and don't want to take the hit on value.
I'll maybe buy in 2020-2025. I still need to find that jet steam blue grand sport to add to the C5 then maybe a c7 after that. While I love following the design and tech of the new C7, too rich for my blood....still need to save for retirement. Debt free at 43 but still have a ways to go before pulling the trigger on a $60K toy.
As soon as my number comes up (and there are no restraints on options I want). I already have my deposit in to hold my place in line (with a forum dealer). I am paying UNDER MSRP.
Love the C7 so far but waiting for several reasons. Like to see what the real world performance and road test are like. Worried about first year quality issues. My major issue is the auto transmission choice, or lack of a PDK. As much as I want to buy the C7 this might be the deal breaker for me depending on the performance of whatever they use. Very disappointed there will not be a PDK style option. I would be OK with something that performs as well as the AMG Speed-Shift if there is not a dual-disc option. I am also open minded enough to wait and see how the 6-speed performs after the programing upgrades. Until then, my gut is to wait for the rumored 8-speed. I am hoping it performs like the AMG auto if there is no PDK style transmission in the C7 future. Keeping my fingers crossed anyway.
