How Many Military Retirees Own Vettes

Just thinking about the Navy retiree who just bought the red Grand Sport in VA and wondered how many retirees own Vettes.

I spent 20 years (and 3 day) in the USAF retiring as an E8. Then spent the next 28 years as a Civil Servant retiring in 2006. Been in 37 countries in my career and always say, "I'm glad I did it once, but not sure I'd want to do it twice!"

How many more retirees?

Thank you to all the Veteran's for your service; Past and present.

8 Months and 17 days until I reach 24 years but I can "Drop my retirement papers" in 7 months, 26 days (October 1st) and have only 12 months remaining thereafter. However, I will push my paperwork further out by 3 months to January 6th, 2014 so I can take advantage of the "Yearly" Pay Raise. (1 January) and retire January 2015 with just over 25 years of service.

It'll be a good feeling, I am sure!!

We entered about the same time. I hit Great Lakes on Thanksgiving Day 1969. I think the temp was about -10 degrees or at least it felt like it. In 1973 I left SH-3D's at Quonset Pt and got in to P3's at Patuxent River. Drove a Norton Commando and crap brown Plymouth Gold Duster. Retired in 1989.

You do realize that you are High 3 so staying those 3 extra months will only increase your retirement pay by a very small amount. Your final pay will be based on the average of your last 36 months actual basic pay. But on the plus side that would give you full COLA for 2016 since you plan to retire after Jan 1 rather than before. Just wanted you to know so you don't pass up an opportunity thinking you will get more than you actually will.

29 years Army and still serving.
