Just thinking about the Navy retiree who just bought the red Grand Sport in VA and wondered how many retirees own Vettes.
I spent 20 years (and 3 day) in the USAF retiring as an E8. Then spent the next 28 years as a Civil Servant retiring in 2006. Been in 37 countries in my career and always say, "I'm glad I did it once, but not sure I'd want to do it twice!"
I got retired from the USN in 1973 with a 40% disability after 2 yrs and 9 months of service. Was an AW3 and flew in SH-3Hs helicopters. I am a hospital CEO now. I drove a Honda CB750 and an MG Midget at the time.
23 years US Navy Aviation. Retired AMSC, E-7, Aviation Mechanic Structures. West Coast, West Pac 4 Cruises, two with VF-96 F-4J's and two with VF-114 F-4J's and F-14A's as flight deck troubleshooter.

Thank you to all the Veteran's for your service; Past and present.
8 Months and 17 days until I reach 24 years but I can "Drop my retirement papers" in 7 months, 26 days (October 1st) and have only 12 months remaining thereafter. However, I will push my paperwork further out by 3 months to January 6th, 2014 so I can take advantage of the "Yearly" Pay Raise. (1 January) and retire January 2015 with just over 25 years of service.
I did 4 in the Corps and 8 as a Navy Corpsman for active duty. Then did 8 in the Navy Reserve. Looking forward to getting some checks soon.
