Another C7 Poll For 35-50 Year olds
I'm curious to know if the C7 appeals to Sports car buyers in the 35-50year old bracket any more or less that the previous models. Please only 35-50 year olds respond. Thanks, Tony
As of 1/31/2013 at 8pm EST there are about 37 members who responded "love, like or must have" The remaining 36 are "wait and see", "waiting for a Vert or C7Z", "not sure" and "not for me" There were only 5 who responded "not for me" Now we need to ask the Chinese what they think:) |
I see few women driving a vette unless its there husbands.
Yeah there are some. I don't care for the looks but if wanted a newer vette would buy the car just because its a new model with the newest look. What have done in the past. But like said before in the last 2 years probably haven't put 500 miles on the C6 vert. I really just don't care to drive it anymore so bored with it. A friend asked if was getting the new one, said no don't drive the one have. BUT as sure as I say never a new one would be in the garage, going nowhere like this one. My answer is, would buy if wanted one, sure why not Still say the radio looks like a Etch A Sketch, rear like KISS mascara and the silly gimmick air ducts could have been left off. Made a much cleaner looking car. Compared to C6, well the C6 had the cheapest looking interior of recent times & poor quality. So appeal of the two, toss up. |
Yes the C7 appeals to me more than the C6 or C5....
|
36. So far, the C7 appeals to me less than my C6 Z06. If the performance model doesn't grab me, I'll keep this one and make my next vette a C2
|
I like it more than C5 or C6, and I've had both of those. I'm glad I feel this way, because after seeing the jalopnik drawings I was scared.
|
35, The perfect car would be a C5 Zo6 with a C7 interior.
I'm buying a bigger boat instead of replacing my C5 Zo6 since the kids and wife will enjoy that more than a car that sits in the garage that never gets used. I like the C6 Zo6 exterior styling better than the C7. |

I agree. I'll reserve judgment until I see the final version in person, but that C6 ZO6 is one bad looking machine. So far I like everything about the C7 except the butt which looks overly busy to me. To be clear, I'm not in the market for either. Until my 3 young kids are out of the house, I won't seriously consider buying another Corvette. It's hard enough to keep my C5 given my family dynamic. |
I turn 35 this year...and yes it appeals. I have to see the Higher Performance models though. My next sports car is either the 2010 Viper ACR, the 2013 Viper GTS or a Vette that can out perform those cars.
|
No way man
|
45 - C7 then C5 then C6. Still love the pop-ups on the C5. :hide:
|
I'm 38. The C7 is way more appealing than any C6. And Im a C6 owner.
As great as the C6 is.. is a 9 year old bodystyle. Its old already. Really old. |
49 - Can't answer until I se a C7 in person. Missed it at Barrett Jackson by 1 day.
|
36 - have a C6Z and highly modded C4. I want a C7 stingray... bad. Plan to get the Stingray and trade up to C7Z then trade up to C7ZR. Will keep the C6Z and C4 for heavy track duty.
|
45. Intrigued by the C7. Quite happy with what I have. Interested in seeing it, seeing how well it rolls out and performs, and seeing what else team vette has in store for it.
I bet it sells well. |
35, and I love the C7. I had an 06 coupe and an 07 Z06. They were my first Corvettes and I loved every minute of ownership over the 6yrs I had them. I love every generation of Corvettes, but the C7, to me, looks to finally be where it should be. A modern, super car exterior with a great interior. I will be getting a C7 in the future.
|
35 and I love the C7 and am anxiously awaiting the C7Z. I will say, I was always most attracted to the C5Z, because I felt the C5Z had a lean proportion that no other did. This new C7 speaks to me though...I'll have it 100%...just waitin for the Z.
|
31. I'll stick with my C6.
|
About to turn 50. My C6 Vert all of a sudden seems a little dated to me since seeing photos of C7. Can't wait to see C7 up close and in person. Really anxious to see it in convertible form!
|
I'm in the 35-50 age range and I'm buying the new StingRay.

45 and currently in a 427 vert. I also like the looks of the C7. I currently think I wll be a second year buyer, but will wait to see what life brings. In the meantime I will enjoy the one I have already. I am working on getting the vert paid off by spring, and being able to get a c7 if I like it that much when it hits atlantic city.
|
44 here.
Love the C7 from what I've seen so far, but bottom line, can't afford one. Let me restate that......I could borrow, but don't do that anymore, so can't afford the cash so in my garage it will not be. If I lost my mind, I'd love to sign on the dotted line, then pick it up at the museum. Love my C5 vert, but did not buy it new. I see that happening with the C6 or C7 in another 5 years.....hopefully. |
Less so far, I have yet to see it in person though. I really liked the C5 but couldn't make a deal on one locally (most still had market adjustments up to $10,000 even in 2004). When the C6 was introduced I couldn't wait and took NCM delivery in December of 2004. I will not be selling the C6 to buy a Stingray. I might still end up buying one depending on MSRP and performance numbers.
The looks really don't appeal to me so the price and performance will need to change my mind. |
I'm 49, and still like the C6 better, both inside & out.
|
I"m 41 and if I had the dough I'd buy a C7.
I"m a life long Corvette fan and have had the pleasure to drive a '79 for the last 23 years. I love all Corvettes. Chappie |
I love the C7. Not sure if I'll trade my C5 for it. May have to make room in the garage.
|
Will be 50 this year, have a ZR1 now, went to see the C7 in person, it's ok, but I'm not in love with it like I was when I first saw the C6.
|
I'm in the range and I plan on buying the Z06 equivalent if and when it comes out. I like the looks & features of the Stingray more than I like my C6 coupe.
|
44 and 42 - we will buy a C7, but not for a couple of years.
|
43
I am rapidly approaching 43.
I like all of the vettes for different reasons. There isn't one that i wouldn't have. With that said, I love the look of the front and side of the C7. The rear is not my favorite, it may grow on me, but right now it just seems "off". But, I would certainly love to have one, and may in the next few years after they have come out. |
Love the C7. I feel it makes the C6 look as dated as the C6Z made the C5.
|
I'm 39. All the models are beautiful except the C4. I've owned a C6 vert but traded that in for an M3, then Aston Martin Vantage, and now a CL63 AMG. The C6 was awesome except the interior which kept me away from getting the Z06.
The C7 is one Bad-MF! Bold, exciting, innovative (light years), a game changer in the auto design world for cars under 130k. All others will now have to step up their game. I hope I can hold out this time for the Z. I'm not 39; I'm 5 years old awaiting for a Transformer on my birthday. Never did get the Transformer because my parents were poor. |
When I got out of my C6 last night and walked past the front end, it looked so dull that I gave it a double-take. I still think the C6 looks good overall, but the front end has suddenly become boring and dated.
I haven't exactly fallen in love with C7, but it's still fundamentally altered my perception of prior Corvettes. Mission accomplished, I guess. |
current have an LPE LSV c4 ZR-1, a C5 Twin Turbo Tiger shark
overall I think the C7 looks pretty good from most angles. the angular styling mixed with the curves looks like a "Ferrarmo" an unusual blend of a ferrari mating with the camaro (not the tail lights, the angular back end style) but it's is not only growing on me, I'm starting to really appreciate how much better it looks than in the photos and renders. overall it's a very appealing car from most of what I can see and a big step up in engineering and hopefully quality. the new interior looks great I believe it's going to be the best handling vette yet. and drive really well but it has a long way to go to get past a C6 ZR-1 (or even my old LPE c4 ZR-1 for that matter) and I need to wait for the after market to "catch up" and be able to mod the new computer which looks like it's going to be a while. GM has locked it down pretty tight and updating direct injection cars will present some new challenges. I don't think well see any C7 twin turbo cars anytime real soon after release. unless you piggy back another computer and add a set of injectors (which is doable) overall, a big improvement in many ways. sorry guys, the tail end of the c6 and the c5 wasn't that pretty when they came out either. I love all the vettes, but I still think the C3 and the C4 ZR-1 look a bit better in the back field I updated my c5 to a tiger shark front and a specter werkes back (Tiger Werkes) with a Hall carbon fiber stinger hood and the car looks quite a bit better for those of you who don't like the c7 back be patient, it's going to be a panel swap away from some other designs which will probably look a bit better a few things I'd do to the c7 body paint the "eye lid vents" at the ends of the tail lights, change out the front grill, and put some nice ccw wheels on it. the car would be plenty sexy at that point. the new LT1 is likely to be plenty torquey and have the "area under the curve" to provide decent performance. and the car will stop better than ever (which is a bit surprising) so watch them next put the carbon fiber brakes on it, slap on a blower, and pump it up to 660 hp (a least that much) and well have a new ZR-1 that will get me where we need to be for me to want one. however, it's a few years out probably overall, the C7 is a game changer (and shucks I'm 52, so I grew up with the C3 and from 68-72 I still think it's the sexy vette of the bunch) not very aero efficient though |
I'm 44 and I love it. I've owned two C6's with my current being an 09 Z06 and can't wait to upgrade to a C7. I will likely wait a year to see what's in store for a C7 Z06 variant unless I have a fatal attraction impulse episode at a local dealer when I see a C7 Z51 sitting on the floor. In which case, I could have a C7 sooner than I expect and a Z06 or whatever version a few years from now.
|
I'm turning 50 this year. I owned a MY 2003 Z06, but couldn't buy into the C6 with its uglier, and IMHO more old-fashioned front and busier rear. To me the C6 looked like it almost came before the C5. Anyway, the C7 generally puts the Vette back on track with futuristic styling, with more modern lines than the C5 from all angles, but unfortunately gets even more hysterical in the rear than the C6. Verdict? I'll get a used C7 and fix the rear for a couple of G's. Oh, and I will saw off those childish sting ray nose bumps. BTW, anyone else detect defective AMC/Chrysler DNA in the C7's ugly ass? It's like someone on the C7 team must have once worked on either Chrysler's or AMC's cheesy design department.
|
31, c7 all day long!!
|
42, Just bought a 13GS. I like the look of the new c7 for the most part except the lower half of the rear (taillights I could live with, not a big fan of the grey plastic lower). I'll wait to see it in person, but I love my car and am making upgrades to the interior bit by bit, making it my own. I still love the stance of the GS and think it looks pretty awesome, but I may be biased as a new owner.
|
38 here, so far I'm not to sure if I like the C7 or not. I'm happy with my C6 so it will be a few years before I think about going to a C7.
|
40+ and the C7 is my choice!
|
35; I am in love! holding out for a LT-4/Z06, in 2015, 2016 I need to go agressive with my saving plan. Kidney for sale, if you need one. Any of you have any inside stock trading tips.
|
38 yrs... it will be sitting next to the 66 :-)
I'm in love.... I plan on buying 6 months or so after its released. I was seriously sold on a C6 Z06 and almost pulled the trigger a few months back but decided to wait and see what the C7 would bring, and I am happy I waited. I still love the C6 Z06, but I cant resist the C7. All I can say is wow... |
48; It will be my next car purchase. Might be 2-3 years though. The tail lights don't have to be round but the butt end is too busy and the black wheels look like brake dust to me.
|
44 and I can't wait to get a C7
I love the new C7, can't wait to be among the first in the country to get one. My twin turbo C6 triple black roadster with caravaggio interior is for sale in the c6 section, and it's one damn nice C6. But I gotta have the C7
|
32 and want the C7 Z06

PS: more than half of the late model Corvettes sold were bought by women. Some of our photos my be offensive to them. Just saying. |
More than my C3's, C4, Never had a C5 looked too much like a trans am, and more than my C6
|
39 here..... No desire to sell my C6Z for the new car. That being said I felt the same way in 2005 when the C6 was released... It did not make me want to trade up from my C5Z, then the C6Z was released and I was checking under my seat cushions for loose change and selling blood to come up with the funds to get one.
Congrats to those who will soon be driving the C7. I hope it has a successful run.... I am afraid that once the "gotta have it" crowd gets theirs, demand will quickly die and we might be back to 12-15000 cars per year and I don't know if a C8 will be green lighted with those type of production numbers continuing. |

especially the ass end !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
I'm in my very late 30's (44) and I love the C7. The only thing I don't like (No, it's not the taillights) is the paddle shifters for the rev matching. It seems unnecessarily complex when a button would do...
 |
44 and the C7 is awsome. Even the rear end is growing on me. Still love my 12 GS though.:D
|
Hey folks here is some info for you: Planned obsolescence or built-in obsolescence[1] in industrial design is a policy of planning or designing a product with a limited useful life, so it will become obsolete, that is, unfashionable or no longer functional after a certain period of time. Yes - people, better believe that C7 is also of that mold. I really like my C6, I really like the C1 and C2 and even a couple of early C3's - but do I have to have another one? No, not really. I'm 36 - bought my first vette at 32 brand new 2008 C8 - still really enjoy the car.

Surprisingly, my wife LOVES the C7, rear end and all. This is a BMW devotee who normally does not know one car from another. She actually did a double-take as she walked by the computer screen, and came back to look at it. I've never seen her do that before. Good news for me as she's been asking for an Aston Martin Vantage... |

You're just jealous. I like his avatar much better than your avatar, and I like either of them much better than the C7 rear. 49 and on my 4th Vette since I got into them in Y2K. The childish rear end really annoys me on this car. Not saying I won't get one, but I'm in no rush on account of the Mattel posterior and something may come along that strikes my fancy better in the meantime. Lots of choices out there and I have the means to be selective.

I'm soon to be 37, and have owned 2001 Coupe, 2007 Coupe, and a 2008 Coupe. I love the C7 styling, and can not wait to drive one. Luckily I will get to take one on a track when Chevy sends me to C7 training! I will own one at some point, hopefully sooner than later.
|
Overall, it is appealing to me and I'm 38. Will I buy one new? Most likely not. It will, I'm sure, grow on me like the C5 did. Obviously hard to make a fair judgement without seeing and driving one in person.
My critique (based on photos): 1. The new C7 v-flags are unappealing, their sillouette look more like the firebird emblem. However the stingray badge is bad-ass! 2. The rear end and tail lights too closely resemble the new camaro. I argue that at first glance, I would dismiss it as just another SS. The distinctive taillights seem to be gone. The rear of the vettes should always look the best, as that's the view most people have to experience  3. I am interested to experience the interior, that has been the biggest critique of the vette for a long time. But personally, if a luxurious interior was one of my top criteria in a sports car, I wouldn't be looking at a vette anyway. 4. Exterior styling (minus the butt) seems to combine the C6 with queues resembling a European super car. I like it. The rear hurts it though; kinda like a new camaro rear-ended and morphed with a Ferrari or something. Having said all that, my first impression of the "new" C5 when launched was not at all positive, I hated it. However, after seeing them in person, then seeing the Z06, the C5 grew on me and is still my favorite style (behind the C2) mainly due to the curves. I'm sure I'll see this post again in a few years and digitally "eat my own words". |
42
Out with the old and in with the new. I'm not 100% sold on 100% of the design, but it's certainly a Corvette and light years closer to my ideal car than ANYTHING else that's been made to date, including several improvements over the C6. I simply don't believe the > 50% women comment. Better pull some serious sources if you want that claim to stick. |

35.. C7 is great, I can't wait to see it I'm person.. Have a c6 that doesn't get used but I have to get a C7 when it comes out
|
45 and I'm keeping my C6. The C7 looks good but the back end and some stuff on the interior is holding me back. That's ok as I have other auto projects that eat $ so it's all good. As for the >50% women comment I don't even know where start. Just looking at where I bought my Vette it looks about 85-90% are sold to men.
|
Gawd yes and thanks for making me feel young at 48.:D. Been tripping on it lately (48). Years do fly.
But yes. Since C5 I was away from this forum the entire run of C6. C7 has brought me back and seriously I have never been this turned on to a car under $100k in my life. I just love it inside and out. This even before real world tests are done but come on? I don't think they will drop the ball here. I bet it will be best ever. I must have this car. I have not said that about any car in years. I thought M3 would be my next but isnt going to happen. This from pictures and videos. That says something... Rick |
43. I will be replacing my c6, which I love, with a C7. My biggest decision is whether I get a convertible or a coupe.

Seems like most guys 35 and older really don't mind the rear end at all. Very interesting. I guess in 4 yrs maybe I'll get over it and buy one! I absolutely love the car, but am absolutely appalled with the derrier. Definitely going to have to be black to hide all that mess, otherwise a great car only to be improved upon with the next Z.
|
I am 39 and love all Corvettes in general. I fell in love as a kid with the C4.
I have owned a C6 Z06 and I still think the C6 Z06/ZR1 are one of the sexiest cars out there. I have also owned many European cars along with an exotic thrown in there. While I always give all Corvettes a lot of praise, I always felt that the car was being held back in terms of interior quality and overall image & marketing. It looks like GM hit if not a grand slam at least a three run homer. From what I see and hear about the improvements, I love it!! Great job GM....now go work on the cars image!!! Cause I can guarantee you at least 3-4 sales from people I know if the car had a little better image and these people can afford almost anything else out there. |

Love the C6 and was wondering if they could really make much of an improvement. The C7 has blown me away. The C7 is a must have! |
now I realize why there are so many positive comments about the C7 on here...nobody's old enough! lol
|
37 here and I need to see it in person....all the pics in the world are fine but I need to sit in it to see if it feels right for me....I'll probably wait for the vert to come out anyway!
Oh and my C4 will not be leaving my garage any time soon! |
37. I like the clean lines and low weight of the C6 1LT I drive. I'll be looking for a light weight model with more body colored paint. I am very interested in the new motor and seats.

35, Love the C7. I own several cars now (550i, C6Z, Viper) and will hold out for the GS/Z06/ZR1 or what ever they call it. I bought a base model 2005 C6 only to sell it in a year for the 2006 Z06. Do not want to repeat that deal.
|
Will be 50 in 2 months and love the C7 but probably won't buy for a couple if years to make sure all the bugs are worked out plus want to see if there are any other engine options
|
41 and loving the new C7. Still not selling my beautiful Grand Sport just yet....I'll wait a few years.

If he is saying it, how many other guys are out there who were going to buy bmw, or audi, or porsche, will buy this new vette. I personally think that when this car starts showing up on the street, guys will go nuts for it. I am more positve than ever, especially after readings guys comments who have seen it, that I will want one also.
|
The base C7 is not the car for me. I will wait for a wide body Z06 or ZR1. The current Z06 and ZR1 still represent the pinnacle of Corvette performance, and until the C7 changes that in a significant way, I will keep my Z.
|
I love the C7 and plan to purchase a Z51, or Z06 variant. I joined this forum for this reason. It works out great for me because I hadn't planned to buy a new car till mid 2014, by then I'll be 35. I always have driven German cars, but the C7 really speaks to me. In my line of work I use a gm truck for a daily driver & always kept a fun weekend car, but looks like I'll be owning two gm's now. This car has swayed me from interest in the R8, MBC63, GT3, M3.
|
I'm 52 but have owned 9 Vettes so I should get some slack on age - YES the new Stingray is fresh and up to date - I will have one......
