I’m a Corvette purist no mods other then I did get a Travel Buddy Cup Holder from CCA.

Ummm, so you have done a lot of mods to the interior! :D:rofl:

I'm not loaded. If you are fairly handy you can do most work to the car yourself with jackstands. Parts don't seem overly priced, especially compared to my 04 GTO, and the Vette is a very well built car.

Best bang for the buck mods you can do are C6Z shocks/struts with C6 Z51 sways, C6 shifter but I like my MGW way better, Vararam intake, and a tune.

To bad you didn't get lucky like we did. We pretty much like our car just the way it is. We did put a nice cat back exhaust on it but that's it. We truly love it the way it is.

Congrats on the car, I'm a Vette newbie without a 7-figure income too. This forum is the best place to start, I've already learned tons of shi....stuff. Good luck and enjoy!

A word to the wise; if you buy anything buy it from somebody here!! They will not cheat or sell you junk. Personally I haven't done anything to my Vette since I bought it (second owner). The previous owner put on new exhaust, Z6 wheels and I bought new mats and that's where it ends. Have fun and don't forget to drive it.

Come back when you're making a million dollars an hour.... ;)

DIY

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-g...f-sundays.html

the total cost that I've spent so far is around $4k and over 100 hours of newbie DIY...a decent chunk of $$$ but spread out over 6 months it wasn't bad

2k of that was seats and exhaust.

The first upgrades I'd make to any base C5 is a

1. better breather (can do the ZipTie mod for about $2 or I went with LG's Breather on sale for $160.
2. Upgraded Sway Bars ( can do Z06 stufffor a few hundred bucks or for about $500 upgrade to Hotchkis Sport adjustable sway and metal end links)
3. get Long Tube Headers ASAP... (they are the foundation of most other performance mods, XSPower is the best bang for the buck system out there right now IMO)
4. Do the Poly Control Arm Bushings (Diy can be done for as little as $100, or spend $400 and get the Pfadt bushings and save 10 hours of extra diy labor)

These mods with give you a whole new car!

if you are on an exceptionally tight budget, do the K&N air filter with ZipTie mod and carefully remove the screen from you MAF, then unhook and reconnect you battery so the PCM relearns air/fuel...drive for about a half a day until your PCM relearns and you will feel and hear a nice "wake up" of you vette.

Then do the C6 Z51 Sway Bars

just those two will make a huge improvement and is only a few hundred bucks and maybe 2-4 hours work.

You will need metal sway bar endlinks too

Change all fluids, new plugs wires, grease up the sway bar bushings(the cause of most suspension noises), grease up the window and roof seals with dielectric grease, antivenom mod
