You had nothing John? No dampener or tensioner? That doesn't seem right.

It had the dampener plastic deal in the middle but nothing spring loaded on the side, the dry sump engine is a strange beast.

Wow, that is very interesting indeed. The LS2 uses the dampener, the LS3(wet sump), LS7, and LS9 all use the tensioner, the LS3(dry sump) uses the dampener? What in the hell?

Remember it's 3 bolt cam from the factory too.

Everything about this frigging thing is for up and down the gears for road racing, if it wasn't for the fact that I like big bottoms (Sir Mix a Lot is my hero) I am definitely a base coupe guy :).

Right..except the LS7 and LS9 are "more" for road racing than the LS3..and they use the tensioner instead of the dampener. That seems odd to me.

Ehhh, knowing my car it broke off a while ago and is floating through the oil system. I know for sure there wasn't on there because we had to loosen the oil pump and pull it forward to allow the cam gear to slide down enough past the dampener to get the chain off of it so I could swap the three bolt gear back on.
