I think that's the reverse solenoid. Not certain.

Interesting, my connector is broken (on the harness side) so it's not plugged in. I'm definitely locked out of reverse when the car is moving. Maybe it's not the reverse solenoid

Lol thats the reverse lock out. It's supposed to do that. If your wire wasn't plugged in you wouldn't be able to get into reverse. at least this was in my ls1/T-56 Iroc

I can use 4 myself. If you get more, ill take 4 of them

I just bought a bunch more of these aluminum drain plug washers today, so if anybody else want some let me know. $2 for 2 washers which includes standard USPS shipping.

I'll be dropping them in the mail on Monday morning.

Does anyone know what sensor is on the driver's side of the trans, near the top?

Skip-shift solenoid.

RandolphB 09-18-2011 02:23 AM

Went back and added a second washer, and haven't seen much improvement. It seems to have slightly less detent feel to it, but is still a bear to smoothly drop into most gears. I have the sinking feeling the tranny isn't so healthy. Anybody have links to threads detailing replacement upgrade transmission for the C5?

I haven't tried changing the fluid in the transmission yet. Was told it was done in December at dealer before we got the car.....but think it best to do myself to be sure....

MACKASH 09-18-2011 11:42 AM

Found the washers at Napa parts store 99 cents ea.

Since the thickness of the washer determines how much pressure is relieved from the detent spring, how thick should the washer be? I don't want to stack washers.

It has probably been trashed by someone. It is popular here to bash the C5 transmission and shifter. But if the heavy handed drivers here would use some finesse, rather than brute force, they are excellent. A Corvette is not a drag racer!

Well I did mine yesterday and it feels different not sure in a good way or bad. I have a c6 shifter mcloud rst and a few other things and never really had issues. When I had 2 washers in it I did not like how stiff it was(that's what she said) so I went with one but really couldn't tell much of a difference. Though I gained almost 40hp from headers and didn't feel much differnece either so maybe I'm just one of those people.

Road Runner 10-05-2011 01:18 PM

After much delay - I decided to install one washer. It was worth the effort - which was really a pain in the ass - I have a ripper, so the one washer 'removed' just a touch of the notchy resistance from each of the shift positions. Not a lot but enough to notice a slight ease. I'm going to keep the mod.
