Fog light bulb replacement

I have one out and saw somewhere here(cant find it now) that a brighter bulb can be put in. I think the factory bulbs are 25 and the brighter ones are 37.5.
What is the part # for the brighter ones?
Dont want to change the harness and all that.
Thanks.

stock fog light bulb options

You have the option of 880 fog lights which are LOWER wattage (25W)

and the stock ones are 893 which are 37W

Stick a HID bulb in the stock C5 housing and get some better light output.... :yesnod:

I agree with putting HID bulbs/ballasts in as they are not much money for what you get.

My car started with the weak-vacuum cleaner foglight bulbs 37.5W and I had promptly switched them with the 50W 885 bulbs, it was better but still so very weak. I have a set I'd love to give you but you are in FL.

Use 885 50W bulbs and reaim the lights almost like headlights

Been using 885 bulbs for sevreral years. Its important to reaim the fog lights. Park about 15 feet in front of a light wall ar garage door. Use a Torx screwdriver and aim them about the same height as the low beam headlights. Switch to parking lights to just see the fog lights. Makes a terriffic difference for less than $5. I always use the fog lights when I have the headlights on. Fills in a lot of light close to the car.

GET HIDs

:iagree: Buy an HID setup from auction. I just installed one, its plug and play. The originalwiring plugs into the ballast. ballast plugs and then wires from ballast plugs into the HID bulb. They were only about $40 shipped. They are great, i don't even use my low beams anymore, drive with just the driving lights around town. HUGE change in light output.

What auction are you talking about? Where can I get some HID's for head lights and fog lights?

How much are the 885 bulbs?

bighank 02-05-2011 05:16 PM

Think I paid about $2 each in a real auto parts store

Went to an auto supply not Advance, Auto Zone, or Pep Boys. Screw that $6 blister pack. Bought 2 loose. Very inexpensive. Make sure you re-aim the lights with the Torx wrench from the front of the light. Mine were way too low to do any good.

What auction??

You know, EBAY. Mine were between $40 and $50 with a lifetime warranty. PM me if you want the vendor.

Stock are 37 watts and 885 are 50 watts.

Nice, cheap upgrade

You don't get any cut off with a HID in the stock housing. Its the HID housing that gives you the distinct cut off.

I'm running 885 50 watt Xenon filled bulbs in mine. Work GREAT and give a nice white light. A perfect match for the super-white PIAA's in the e-code headlights.

I am going to install HID lights in my low beam. I know they are 9006. But fog lights are 885 or 893 and i haven't been able to find the HID light with this number. Can I use another type of bulb?

mickey_7106 02-21-2011 12:18 PM

interesting. This guy is selling an HID kit only but if you look at the comparison kit theres a sharp cut off

So you have been running the 885/50watt bulbs with no heat problems ? I'd light to install a set I have siting here. I have in been using sylvania SilverStars in the car, but I know that I'm going to have to resort to HID's if i want to have really good lighting ?
