What are some stock 2008 LS3 1/4 mile times?

I have a 6 speed. Average times. Which ones are faster 6 speed or auto paddle shift?

Vette_DD 08-12-2010 09:58 AM

BTW, they're all 6 speed.

With my stock 08 A6 & 2.56 gears ... In the heat I run 12.4-12.5's.. In decent weather 12.2-12.3's.... In good weather 12.1's... Haven't made any passes in really great weather conditions...MPH ranges from 114 in the heat to almost 118 in better weather...

Less power loss to the ground with manual. Side by side rolling the manual
is faster. Auto's on the other hand come out of the hole better with their ability
to lay the power off the line. Some people can't drive a stick. So results vary!

2008 Z51 MN6 NPP -My bone stock best was a 13.0 @ ~115mph IIRC

Getting a good launch with runflats is difficult

I just bought a stock LS3 with 28,000 miles. I ran an 11.89 (118 mph) this morning. I adhered to the great advice of Ranger (Rangeracceleration.com) and was quite pleased as this was my second 1/4 mile run ever. I did have Mickey Thompson drag radials my buddy lent me.

wolfdogs 12-18-2011 06:31 PM

I'd like to see full mile times........ ;)

I'm certain that I couldn't run that time with my stock run-flats. I had a super lucky day: good tires, good weather, good track temp, good advice. The times listed above are with stock tires right?

Ya, in those class rules you need stock runflats... I hit a 12.24@117 after this thread was originally posted..

Here's the update list and actual thread - https://www.corvetteforum.com/c6-tech-performance-101/showthread.php?t=1893326

Slow

I feel slow but any way here are mine.

2008 LS3 with Varram, A6, stock Goodyear runflats,

Mar evening outside temp about 80 degrees.

12.863 at 113.26

maaxx 12-19-2011 07:12 AM

Good post BTW !

Mine is a stock 2008 LS3 with NPP.

best time is 12.8 at 115 MPH.

My problem is ( probably like everybody else) the first 60'......i'm soooo slow of getting out the box....

I'm shopping for some mags and tires i could swap befor going to the track....

SouthBaySurfer 12-19-2011 08:52 AM

Bone-stock '08 coupe, A6, NPP, 2.73 gears at Englishtown last July- 12.74 @113.5. Hot, sunny day, temps in low 90's.

08vycpe 12-19-2011 11:08 AM

Bone stock '08, NPP, Z51 (2.73 rear), A6, in drive (no paddle shifting), 80*F August day, 93 octane gas, only run the car has ever seen:

12.6 @ 114 mph

Edit: It's interesting to read about people having issue with hooking up. I never even got a tire chirp from a dead stop to full throttle. Ran 1/4 mile with all nannnys "on".

peter pan 12-19-2011 11:20 AM

I ran our 09 stock and with 325s out back, stock tires my best times were 12.8 at 113 and with the 325s 12.5 at 115. What I find hard to do is to get a good launch with the stock converter, seems above 2k the Vette wants to move with the foot brake on. I can not get the 60 times under 2 seconds, I was able to do better in my stock MN6 99 C5 in the 60 times 1.8, though my times were never 12.5, best stock was 12.7 at 114.

:iagree:

Limiting the Corvette to 1/4 mile is like shooting a .308 sniper rifle at the local pistol range, or running an offshore sport racing boat on your local lake.
Plus, you will invariably find yourself in the company of camaros and the toyota-supra-dragon-nos-NAWS crowd.

They'd be mid/hi-150s for bone stock cars. Seen a lot of them run.

:iagree:
The previous chart has 24 listings, of which 6 are M6 and 18 are A6.
A6 is quicker mostly in drag racing.

:iagree: perfect example is the 60's muscle cars with skinny radial tires. Put better tires on them and times are much improved.

Stock LS3 08 Convertible, Centerville Raceway, AR, 1000 foot track, 102 MPH, 10.3 sec.

Detoxx03 01-22-2012 11:58 AM

Took my 2008 MN6 out last night. I'm about a month in to driving a manual transmission car but I did manage to knock off a few 12 sec passes with the stock run flats. Best time of the night was a 12.7@114 with a 2.2 60'. Track conditions weren't the greatest but with more seat time I'll keep getting better and once I put drag radials on the times will only improve as I do.

That's pretty impressive!I KNOW I couldn't have rowed a stock LS3 car anywhere near the 12s a month after I learned to drive a stick.

This is impressive.

I admit I have never done an official 1/4 mile run.

When younger back in the sixties we did rolling start runs a lot.

I can appreciate the art of launch and speed shifting.

I do have lots of drive time in Big Rigs with 13 & 18 Speeds. No clutch requires precise rev matching and in the hills some speed too when shifting. Also lots of dead launches up hill with 80,000 lb. loads. This takes smoothness or something brakes real quick, like the driveline.

This gives me the experience to say. Good job!

hangtime204 01-22-2012 05:45 PM

I ran a 12.1 at 113 with ET Drag radials... '60 was a best of 2.0. Stock otherwise.... I thought it was decent. Car in an 08 MN6

Pretty good. I figure on street tires if I can get the 60' down to a 2.0 it should put me in the 12.5 range

haljensen 01-22-2012 06:30 PM

Where are all those super fast dry sump Grand Sports? They should dominate the stock LS3 listings with their hidden horsepower and big tires. Only three times shown for GS, 12.3 to 12.8 for GS in their seperate chart.

Damn u trapped @ 171 ? 12.24 . you must have stopped and had a cigarette at the 1000'

Flh Den 01-06-2013 11:22 AM

For those who have coupes running sub 11.49's, I was just reading where NHRA has changed the rules. 2008 and later unaltered hard tops running 9.99 to 11.49 no longer need roll bars/cages.
