Glove Box Handle Broken - Won't Open - HELP!
Went to open the glove box (the one in the passenger side dash) and the handle breaks free in my hand. But the glove box doesn't open. I've spent an hour messing with it. By my estimation, without the handle the latch shouldn't hold the door close. It should just fall open.
I can't seem to get the latch to release. Any ideas? The latch/handle mechanism basically broke in two. The handle just came off with the lock still intact. |
bump... I can't be the only one to have this issue.
|
bump... Really nobody has had this problem?

PM Bump... Come on somebody has seen this.

This is just getting depressing... come on.

mine broke to ! but the whole thing came out. i put it back in for the meantime. the only thing that is holding it up is the lock. i put the key in and turn it to hold it in place. might want to start there. the key might release it for you. good luck:cheers:

You 2 must be the only ones that have ever broke the glove box.

In case anyone is listening, it is July 1 2009 and my 2006 glove box door handle just broke into pieces. Now it won't open. Any ideas on how to open without damaging the door itself? There doesn't seem to be much out there on this failure - help!

OK, yes the door should just fall open. The back of the v arm that the lock bar sits in when the glove box is closed has a notch that the arm on the handle holds in place. If the handle falls out and the arm comes with it the glove box should just fall open.
To get mine open I had to take a dremel and cut away the rest of the latch until the screws gave way. Then put a new latch back in. |
Glove Box latch
I live in Oklahoma City and my dealer tells me there is not a latch, for my broken glove box, available . Does anybody know where I can get one?
Thanks  |

Broken Glove Box Latch
I have a 2007 and mine just broke. As I went to open the glove box the latch snapped in two. I did not even pull hard on the thing. I used pliers to pull down on the little metal tab. and it opened. But this still sucks as I'm out of warranty.

My handle pulls up but the glove box won't open. It appears that the handle breaks easily, so I'm afraid to force it. At least my proof of insurance card is in the cup holder, however, the pink slip is stuck inside.

What??
And have someone suggest that I do a search because this subject has been discussed previously? Never mind, just close it.
