that when you start to loose traction tha for sure

My little ole 346 starts pulling at 3k, and then is just sick after that until the shortened redline of 6200 to give me long engine life, oh I see 14lbs at 6200:D

wow..what size pulley on the d1sc
|
Doesn't matter necessarily where it 'starts', it matters where it starts making real power, which is high in the power band. By 4,000 - 4,500 you can definitely feel the blower. This has pros and cons. The pro is it helps traction.
PP - keep in mind your will start a little earlier as you have a smaller pulley with a forged motor combo. |
I don't know about a procharger, but my maggie makes full boost at 1500rpm and pulls like a raped ape! :D

I run a Procharger F1R on a 429 ci motor....low end is just overwhelming.... I make over 450rwtq at 2000rpm, over 550 at 3000rpm, over 650 at 4000rpm and over 750 at 5000rpm. There is no street tire that can handle close to this much power in the first 4 gears.....but over 100mph its   Don't worry about having alot of power at less than 3000rpm...... races are won in the higher rpm ranges so big power at 1500-2000rpm is not necessary. Any 500rwtq car can spin the tires up to 70-80mph..... once the tires hook.....big power at the top wins. The Auto guys have stalls of 2800, 3500 or more to get away from dealing with power profiles that start out high and trail off at the higher rpm levels. Optic ran 9.8x times with a D1....show me a Maggie that can do that.
A Procharger setup and tuned right will provide as much power as you want. I'm thinking about maybe a 454 based on the new GM iron block..6 bolt heads and an F3 blower, 24psi...... should be 1200-1400rwhp ....might even beat some of those Viper records. |
For a street car, I"ll take the low end power (below 3000 rpm's) everytime. That's where you spend the majority of your time.

top end.....

That may be where you spend your time, but 1500-2900 rpms is not where C5 motors really perform. Consistant running a motor in the 1500-2500rpm range will not even win a street race..... all your doing is shifting all the time wearing out the clutch and driveline...if you own a Corvette...DRIVE IT!!
You don't have to teach me how to win a race...There is nothing in my post about racing.....In a street driven car , you spend most of your time below 3000rpm's. |
not mine...lol
