Thanks to everybody who took a look - the end result (both on corvetteforum.com and ncrs.org) is that the definition of "transparent smoke gray" varies widely.

wonder if they are taking into consideration the UV effect on them.. put two roofs together for differant cars and there will be a shade or two differance between them.. same as C-3 glass tops.. near impossible to match up between used ones.
