Laguna Blue vs Crystal Red...seeking your feedback
I'm going to place an order tomorrow for my new C7 3LT Z51. initially it was going to be the crystal red, but after seeing the new pictures online of the blue I am now torn. If you have seen either of these two colors in person I would appreciate any comments. Is the blue as vibrant in person as showing on line?
Thank you
Thank you

Go with the Blue. My first 2 Corvettes were red. When I bought my 2011 Jetstream Blue GS I was a little hesitant at first. When I saw the Laguna Blue car at the Indy 500 I was hooked. I get a lot of comments on my Laguna Blue StingRay. When I order my 2015 Z06 it will be Laguna Blue.

Thank you for your reply. I went with the Laguna blue and order the 2015 yesterday. It should hit production early august and I could have it as early as sept. I went w black rims and black interior. I'm excited.
I realize I posted this in the wrong section but I can't figure out how to move it. I'm not getting the Z06, just the 3LT Z 51.

The formulation of the Crystal red changed in calendar year 2011 when the tsunami hit Japan. The sole factory in Onahama that makes the Xirilic flake used to form the metallic was wiped out. That forced the CRM paint on to constraint as it was the sole sorce for that pigment. Lots of work went in to reformulating the paint to be an exact visual match with an altered formulation.
The paint on both the c6 Corvette and the CURRENT generation Stingray Corvette are metallic. The tint coat simply describes the process used to arrive at the final color.
All Corvettes use a primer, a base color coat and a clear coat. Some of these clear coats are conventional and some of them are tinted based on the desired final color. The tint is nothing more than a pigment added to conventional clear coat to alter the shade of the final color. Both the 2013 and the 2014 Crystal Red are Metallics and both are tint coat colors. I don't know why the name changed for 2014 but the color is the same.

I haven't seen the red in person but have seen a few blue and they are gorgeous! With so many good colors on the c7 its hard to choose but I'd go with Laguna blue because, from judging in pics, it looks better IMO and know for a fact how good blue is in person. I'm usually a torch red guy but I'd probably pick the c7/z in Laguna blue.

I also have no doubt that the observation in that post is true. I can park my 2010 CRM GS outside in the sun. Look at the drivers side and the color looks like a candy apple red, with shades of pink and purple showing in the shadow lines. Walk around to the hood, and the color looks like a bright cherry red. Walk around to the passenger side, and the color looks like a deep brick red. This is why I have a love/hate relationship with this color

This explains it well.... different name, same paint and process.
