Default RAIL TRACKING and Shipping time to Los Angeles

Just heard my C7 went to 4200 and is in transit via Toledo. Anybody know how long from plant to Los Angeles. I'm worried about the minus 30 windchills this week on the new paint!

Wind chill only affects warmed bodied animals. That, and the cars in an enclosed rail car anyway. GM tests their cars to -20F and below, so no worries.

1 Yr and 6 months! That's what It will feel like anyway. Hopefully wouldn't be too long maybe 3-4 weeks?

Default One week to go one state on rail!

Finally got a railcar number and found the car was in Gibson Indiana, which is closer to Bowling Green than it was a week ago when trucked to Toledo. Using this routing, it may go to Minot, ND before heading south. Bummed! Used AdrianS tracking procedure

My car took slightly over 2 weeks to go from KY to Santa Ana, CA. Granted, it was over the Christmas and New Year holidays, and I'm not sure how that affects rail transfer.

As for damage, the only damage mine had (black z51) was minor chafing on the hood near the windshield (this only affected about an inch of surface area). I was told it was due to the wind constantly blowing against the "sock" the car comes in. The dealer will typically take care of this. Callaway, in my instance, buffed everything out and detailed the car. It was 100% perfect with no blemishes after they were done.

Good luck & congrats!

Thanks for the info netguy--your two weeks sounds about right. It was really moving for the past two days after a long stay in the railyard.

Default Vettes hauled by Union Pacific to LA

Here's the route map for the tracks to L.A. Weird that you go down to El Paso from Tucumcari, rather than following Route 66 or I-40 West.

Ya know.... I was seriously thinking about going through all this, getting the number and tracking my C7's shipping (I have been at 4200 for 2 days now).

But after thinking about it, what good would it do me? After all, it's gonna take as long as it takes regardless of my tracking it or not. And all tracking would do is make me anticipate delivery even more than I already am.

So I think I will let nature take its course and wait for the dealer to call to come pick her up

KenHorse I was kinda thinking that when I started. Did that for one I ordered back in August--long story short the dealer screwed up the options and had to reorder in November. I was so fed up with waiting for 5 months, but its cool to be getting the cities and checking on MapQuest to see it getting closer. Just checked and mine is now in Maricopa, AZ. Just saying...

It was really fun tracking the train. Tried to see it get unloaded at Mira Loma's car facility, but security was super tight. Hope this takes a little mystery out of the Union Pacific routing. Pics to follow.
