I call . This falls into the same category as the V6 base C7 engine. I can't imagine anyone at GM thinking that they 'screwed up' with the C7's fuel economy. There are lots of quotes that they did plenty of testing of six-bangers and decided against it.

The 2014 Silverado's v8 gets better mpg than Fords v6 Ecoboost.

Hasn't got a lot of traction? Not sure what you mean by that. What were you expecting at this point? The article clearly states that the C7 may be around for 3-4 years before a change. Did you expect to see a C8 by now if there was validity to the article?

That is not going to happen. Oil is coming out of our ears and the people will gradually change the idiot politicians we now have which will help with the unattainable café standards.

I think he's saying that the rumor you linked to (in the poorly written article) has not gained a lot of traction. Usually where there is smoke, there is fire. But there isnt any smoke with this one. Just one guy conjuring up a rumor from an unnamed GM employee. Unsure anyone else reported anything similar.

Certain idiot politicians in congress and the senate YES.
Cafe standards changing, NO chance. These standards helped to get us the where we have a good supply now.
China, India and third world countries will once again be competing for oil in a few years combined with way too much concern about climate change to change the cafe standards.
More hybrids, plug ins, diesel, natural gas, etc. will help auto manufacturers meet the overall cafe standards the govenment will be mandating.

I'm not certain what the Op's agenda is, but it kinda sorta smells like that odor Trolls make when they agitate . . . .

Go compare the fuel economy of the turbo V6s out there, compare it to the gas mileage achieved by the C7, then get back to me.

This is BS. Expect at least a 5 year run.

Lets think a bit about this - Chevy starts producing the best looking sports car on the planet. It out performs cars costing multiple times as much and it get amazing gas mileage for such an awesome performance machine. The material and craftsmanship are world class and the technology meets or exceeds the very best in the world regardless of price.

Right - total screw up - it will obviously be short lived.

What a bunch of garbage!

I heard 2020 for the C8. That would mean 3rd quarter of 2019. Development of C8 would have to start sometime late next year to hit that target date.

Doesn't seem to matter whether they remove those 2cyl or
not. Mileage is not enough to warranty the lower power of
a 6. Especially in a truck. A V6 Honda does just as good as
a V8 truck. So why mess with them

That article and this thread is a complete waste of reading time. I didn't read past the OP to be able to realize that.
