This forum saved my z!
Lord knows how many countless thousands of words we all have read these past two or so years concerning LS7 valves. These few words are only to say THANKS to all that have posted here these past few years. This year i began to read 09s dropping valves and that REALLY got my attention! It seamed that most if not all the 09s had around 17k miles when disaster struck. Well, my odom was at 17k in march. My motor had no valve train noise at all. So! a no brainer decision was made. I was going to Track-Attack anyway in july, One phone call, shipped her to Katech last week. Looks like the best decision i have made all year. This message today is to say thanks again to all that post on this Z06 Forum. Im my case with my Z, it cemented my decision to get my heads look at sooner rather than later!!!!

Good. So I'm assuming they said your guides were bad?

The specs will be compleated by next week. Katech keeps LS7 heads in inventory, Makes for much faster turn around for the customer. Jason sent me a video showing the so called wiggle test was not good. within days i have new heads and no worries.. I count myself lucky...

Welcome to the club of the 1% as some people think. This forum and everyone I know seems to be part of the really low number of cars effected. There must be some hidden enclave of z06s owners out there somewhere making up the other 99%.

The problem is simply the fact that people don't understand sample sizes, and how to apply what we've seen here realistically to the whole set.
Most of these just aren't driven enough to have any real idea of anything. Of the ones that are driven and inspected, seems like 90% or more have guide failures, and some % of those experience valve failures at some point. So of the 30k built, what portion are driven, what portion of those have bad guides, and what portion of those eventually reach a tolerance bad enough to induce failure.
Basically I'm agreeing with you but adding my thoughts as to why so many have trouble grasping this concept.

I remember back in April of 2012 when you sent it off to Katech for the Stage 1 setup.
One of your posts on the setup is here.

Out of curiosity, do you know what condition your guides were in prior to the original work?

Remember..Howie went 80k+ miles before his LS7 went...not that that is a testiment, it is merely an example. Saying your LS7 will blow in 17k miles or 80k miles is just a guess. It even has a chance of not dropping a valve at all. Grasping the concept is simple....taking the plunge is hard.

Like I said in some other thread, GM must only sells the bad heads cars to Corvette Forum members. All the non members ones are fine
