Yes it is. I'm bothered by the torque though.

Quick, I like your reasoning for the head work, that's where I'm at today also. One question for you.. . Did you take off the heads yourself? If so I how difficult of a job is this and are there anything I need to know that will help me out with the removal. And lastly.. Most important.. Do you need to measure anything as you put those heads back on, or is it as simple as bolting everything back together.

LS1howto.com has a very good procedure on how to install heads/cam on a C5. The C6 Z is pretty much the same procedure to R&R the heads. Not a big deal at all if you're experienced. Took me three hours last Monday taking my time. I have done a few heads/cams on LS motors though.

I'll check that out. I can't do cam, I'm in California, but I will do heads soon.

I love your sig!.....if thats you I'll R&R your heads for free.

If you've done it before it's not that hard....about 9-10 hours of bending over a very low car. You'll need new bolts and a gasket kit and fluids.....and the secret torque sequence.
Cunningham Motorsports is in Murietta...not too far from you. They charge about $1K to R&R heads.....which is a good deal cuz its a pain.

If you get you heads ported you'll need a new tune, but you could also just have a head shop install new guides and SS valves, freshen the rest an slam'em back on...and be good to go too.

I'm more bothered by that little bit of smoke near the end, and the cloud of smoke when he got off it.

Maybe it's nothing, but it's a little more smoke than I'd like to see.

I wish he had a copy of the graph so that we could see what RPM he ran it up to as it has SS valves.

Hahaha, I've never done it before, and I'm not getting my heads ported. I will send them out to wcch for ss and guides.

Let me know what they charge for guides, SS valves (&Springs).

There's another place closer to me in Placentia - BPE Racing.....I was going call him for an estimate on the same job.......I'll let you know.

It's hard to scare a man who no longer gives a damn.

In other words, I cannot not be scared into thinking that stainless steel valves are any worse for my engine's longevity, and any more likely to cause a catastrophic failure, than the hollow stemmed stock ones that were in it, which had inconsistent wall thickness and a history in here of breaking.

It's going to be hard to tell me, at this point, that SS valves are bad for my car, and are liable to cause all sorts of trouble, but at the same time, tell me that these below, with uneven wall thickness within the same valve, varying wall thickness amongst different valves, questionable, if not outright poor QC with sodium near the top of at least one example, and a history of breakage, are good for my car:

One writeup has already been mentioned, but here is another.

For SS valves, Bronze Guides, Tumble Polished Intake Valves, and valve job is $750 plus springs

Quick,

I am GLAD to hear you are probably going with long tube headers now to complete your new heads/cam set-up. You have come TOO far not to make things complete and leave a lot of torque on the table along with a horsepower throughout the rpm band.

Quick,

I have WCCH stage 1 (SS valves), torquer cam, and LT making 580hp/522tq installed DIY a year ago with stock IM and TB. So far this setup has about 3K miles with no issues. The dropped exhaust valve scare was a good excuse to port the heads

Default Things are starting to come together

Ported intake manifold is in place.

C5R timing chain from Katech. New OEM sprockets. ARP Bolts, A new damper bolt will be going in.

Lash caps in place on the intake valves.

WCCH does beautiful work.

I am told that the WCCH emblem will be etched on cylinder heads that they do.

As will a number.

Hopefully should be ready to fire it up tomorrow.

The guy doing the work is anyway. I am amazed by his skills.

A big thanks to D-Rod for pointing me in his direction.
