Default DBA T3 Brake Upgrade on 07 Z51.

I just wanted to share some pics and info with you guys. Ken http://forums.corvetteforum.com/memb...knsbrakes.html gave me a great deal on a Front set of DBA T3 5000 2-Piece slotted rotors,
Rear set of DBA T3 4000 1-Piece slotted rotors, and a set of Front & Rear Carbotech Bobcat 1521 Pads for my 07 Z51 "Street Driven DD". Have a great week, Gering.

Op had the high priced rotors other than the Z51. Curious as to the difference from the previous set none the less.

My .02

Although I used OEM carbon pads w/DBA rotors F/R, rotor wear/stop well and with insignificant dust to boot. Really no comparison with OEM Z51 set up.

Kent from KNS is the man! He also gave me a great deal along with great shipping!

Yes,

I had these on the Vet for many miles - http://shop.performanceafx.com/C6-Re...109-100110.htm Front and Rear, but I was running the OEM Z51 Pads as well. This time I changed it up with both rotors and pads, so far I am very happy with the set up. I had over 84K miles on the AFX rotors. When I replaced them, the slots were worn off.

Gering, you always put top shelf stuffs in your car.

OEM metallic pads, unlike carbon versions, can really chew up rotors.

Please keep us in the loop as to how you like your new combos.

Will do Sir, I just put 200 hundred miles on them today and like them a lot so far. I performed some hwy / street / parking lot driving to see how they perform, so far I am very happy with them. It is a great combo for a "Street DD", Carbotech Bobcat 1521 pads are "NOT" for track use, per what I have read from their "Carbotech" posts.

Right on!

As my OEM carbon pads only polishing the DBA rotors with hardly any dust after two years of fun runs.

Your reputation here and RoadRacing Section certainly affirmed my confidence in dealing with you in the distant future!

Thank you!

Hey Gering, your post had inspired me to change out my DBA4000 front rotors with DBA5000 T3.

I didn't want the raw cast iron to rust, so I am in the process of painting them with VHT paint. One is finished and the other one will be done tomorrow. I did the same for the 4000 and look prestine after one year.

How is your rotors holding out?

Overall I am very happy with the rotor and pad combo, the DBA5000 T3's are very nice. If this is for a street car only, maybe try the Carbotech Bobcat 1521 pads next time you have to replace your old one's. Post some pics when your done.

How does the weight compare to the stock Z51 rotors? I know the AFX rotors were considerably lighter than Z51s, correct? I don't have the weights in front of me for Z51/AFX.

I believe so, the Performance AFX rotors are about 7.5 lbs per front rotor & about 6 lbs per rear rotor. As for the weight difference between the AFX and DBA's, I do not have those numbers, but I did weigh and take a picture of the DBA's for those that are interested. Here is a thread for you - http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...or-weight.html

First I taped the aluminum carrier and covered with template on non wear areas then painted with VHT high temp paint.

After installed and bedded in for both rotors and pads, NIB from two separate CF members. On the rotors, member seller even helped with half of the $49 shipping.

I am impressed with the combined performance for sure, especially the timing of buying new for old price on the set, right?
