Default for the LS2 Cam only guys in the longblock...

I am debating if I should spend all the money in the heads or just do a cam and 102mm intake and TB. I just dynoed my LS2 05 C6 m6 Z51 today and I got 355.12rwhp / 354.94 rwtq on the first pull and 362.01 rwhp / 357.03 rwtq on the second. Air fuel was between 13.02 and 13.36... I will try to take a picture of my dyno sheet tomorrow and upload it. At the dyno shop they were advising me to leave the 243 heads on the block and just do a cam and intake. I also remember reading about a member on the board that did like 503rwhp with intake and cam on the factory long block. So... this thread if for you guys! The guys that have a cam in the factory long block and if you could please provide me with your mods and before and after numbers. I am trying to decide what to do.

My mods are:
-Airaid CAI
-Predator Diablo tuner
-TR6's
-MSD wires
-Muffler delete and no cats.

Thanks in advance.

I'd do the cam only swap first. I have a stock ported intake, stock TB and I run 10.9x in the 1/4.

I have thought about doing a head swap however I am not sure the bang is worth the buck.

Cam only I pulled 470/431 to the wheels. I'm shooting for 530rwhp with heads and EWP. After much research I think I'm gonna go with the PRC 227 Heads from Texas Speed.

What are your mods? Auto or manual? I've been chasing 10's cam only and it's a tough goal with a manual. With a stalled auto it's much easier.

Op whether you get heads depends on your goals. You will be in the 450-460 range without them and 500 ish with top heads like Trickflows.

See my sig for my various dyno and track results as I continued to mod my car.

I have an A6 with a 3600 stall, I know its much easier in the 1/4 for the auto than a M6. The M6 takes some practice and skill, the auto is pretty much just floor it and hold on

well the goal for the car is 550rwhp... But I am thinking a cam would probably be worth the money... however I dont want to buy the springs as later I will buy the heads and have had spent extra $ for nothing.

the 470 was with what mods though? LT's, midpipe, intake and TB? I like those numbers for a Cam only setup.

You have to get springs with a cam. No choice but patriot golds are inexpensive and good. Plus you should replace springs every 20000 miles so you will be ready for heads before you know it.

Btw 550 will be nigh impossible without a power adder....

My car is now a cam only, it dynoed 376 with your basic bolt ons..
z06manifolds,H pipe and cat pipe.
spinfast92 and tb
halltech cai and magnaflow bullets..I added a 230/234 cam along with an slp ud pulley and it dynoed 424..that was on the same dyno and in pretty much the same weather conditions..It ran an 11.34@125.6 last year before the cam,im hoping like crazy to break 10,s this year with the extra 48hp gain.i know my dyno #,s are low but the 1/4 mile doesnt lie...Hope that helps you bud..

This is an awesome thread for me...thanks OP!

To Joe G:

Do you have any videos of your car idling or a run? Would love to see the idle qualities of that cam.

To OP:

Keep in mind all dynos vary, especially if between mustang and dynojet. But like the other poster said, dyno is not always a good measure, track results show the proof!

Yes I do. I daily drive it. 47000 miles on the stock clutch and I launch at 5-6000 rpm, 417 drag strip runs to date.

I understand about the dyno always not putting down the same... I continue to go to the same Dyno for that reason. I have been taking the vette to Gearheads in Arlington TX... Travis is a good man... yah DFW boys check them out.

I dont go to much to the track as I hear that the 2005 C6 has weak axles!

YOU DONT CARE ME JOE G! But your car is very nice!
You kept the original mufflers and added cutouts?

It looks like you were right at 185mph! Good run! making us LS2 boys proud.

ps: what Splash guards did you go with? They look good.

It blows me away the times you guys get. It just goes to show me that the track in our area sucks. I put down 480 and 440 through my a4 auto.

I have heads and I did them at the same time as the cam. The heads just amplify anything you do after them. I agree that you should do the cam first and then when you have the cash do the heads.

Need to get a ZR1 clutch as the stocker can't hold the new power, still trapped 120mph with a slipping clutch.

Yes, original muffs, and QTP cutouts. Here's my thread on that.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-t...-on-my-c6.html

The splash guards are c6 z06, they are cheap and you can modify them to fit the standard c6 fenders.

Here's a thread on that.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...l-chapter.html

I now have c6z fenders:

I saw your videos... the cam sounds like it found a good home in your car... Some good flowing heads should take you over the 520 range... Like the wheels too... cant really see what they look like but I like how Deep dish looks on a C6... or concave wheels.
