Default Question about Z06 manifolds on coupe

I am getting ready to install Z06 manifolds, cats & midpipe on my C6 coupe.

Two questions:

(1) I read the Z06 engines are like 1.5in lower in the car, will this cause a problem between the downpipe and the tunnel? (shorter distance between the heads and the downpipe)

(2) The Z06 manifolds look like there is no where to snake the dipstick on the coupe, what have you guys that put Z06 manifolds done?

Thanks in advance

Mark

Got long tubes now - hang too low and sound like I have bad lifters!
3" Z06 exhaust almost same HP!

Because long tubes are a complete and total rip off on a C6. $1500+ ?? What a joke.

W/the Z06 manifolds, you can get 80% of the gain of long tubes, for 30% of the money. That qualifies as a smart move.

OK, but I would love to see dyno charts with this comparison.

There has been quite a bit said about this mod over the past couple of months... it looks like a good way to go - some performance gain and "all GM' parts probably help keep the warranty alive. I'm gathering up the stuff to do it to my '05 M6.

Cheers,

Just finished mine. Have the Z06 manifolds from the engine all the way back. Only trouble encountered was you need 3" mufflers (I have Corsas) to mate up with the Z pipes or you must weld on reducers. I can tell you that it feels like around 20 RWHP. Definetely a difference. I spoke with my tuner and he agrees. I will dyno it again soon. Also has a deeper sound and rumble to the exhaust.

All fit perfectly and the dipstick fit as well. Make sure you get the correct passenger side manifold on (the one with the heat shield) that protects the starter. Also, we ended up unraveling the black taped factory harness around 12" to pull back the top 02 sensors, then re-wrapping them with black tape. This way, you don't need 02 extensions. The bottom 02 sensors fit fine. You will neesd an 02 sensor wrench. We just cut a box wrench and made one.

Charlie

I will believe that when I see dyno proof. Changing the manifolds will not give anywhere near the results of a 32" or 27" primary that leads to a 3" x-pipe through highflow cats, all for 1500. 1500 gets you 30hp+ and I doubt that you will get 5 with the Z06 manifolds.

The joke is someone believing that hype that was likely started by someone in the for sale section.

Post proof of this one before I will believe it.

Default Z06 manifold hype

People state that the gains for the Z06 manifolds and exhaust x/h-pipe is netting 80% of what a full header set gets I will believe that when I see dyno proof. Changing the manifolds will not give anywhere near the results of a 32" or 27" primary that leads to a 3" x-pipe through highflow cats. 1500-1800 gets you 30hp+ and I doubt that you will get 5 with the Z06 manifolds.

The joke is someone believing that hype that was likely started by someone in the for sale section.

Post proof of this one before I will believe it.

Anyone have the truth on this? I would like to see some testing. Another guy just did this in the C6 tech sectionand claims it feels like 20rwhp. I'm not a believer. The reason why is that a Z06 that switches to LG headers such as seen here nets 30 over its stock exhaust.

Baseline-bottom line is with the Z06's stock manifolds and same car after with LG headers and CAI is 35 over the Z06 manifolds originally on the car. The air cleaner give something so, 5?:

If you check the link to ls1tech it has a dyno.

I just showed a header making 30+ over the Z06 manifolds. You can go do a search.

A Z06 comes with those manifolds and yet it itself makes 30+ with LG headers.

I'm not arguing with you. You just asked for a dyno of the stock z06 manifolds and I was saying there is one in the ls1tech link. It shows pretty good gains for the money.

If you think they are 80 percent of good long tubes. Lets race!
more like unproven gains and a waste of money. Plus sounds like fun!

Shows a 30 hp gain. Wasn't in the "For sale" section either, BTW.
