APS too smooth???
Hey guys,
Recently had some experience in a C6 APS TT car. I have to admit I wasn't like "WOW". Power delivery is so smooth I felt like I was in a Porsche 996 TT. The turbos were/are too small in my opinion to have the "WHOA factor". Don't get me wrong, IT IS fast. It is very drivable, but almost too "old man'ish" feeling for me. Good kit (in my opinion), but obviously I WAS NOT taken back in "awe". The "blower" car is still "funner" (in my opinion) or perhaps something with some HUGE turbos to give you that nasty kick in your "a$$" feeling would give me the "Oh Crap factor" (...would have some lag though)? What do you guys think? The APS kit has torque, but seems very linear....almost too linear to feel like a Vette (American) to me (in my opinion). I might be crazy, but it is just my opinion thus far. Just some additional input on things in the FI world!!!
..made some spelling errors, just edited them!!! ...also edited some words that might be "mis-interpreted" ....added (my opinion and bolded it).

Probably right?
I agree that linear torque can be deceiving. I have heard that the APS kit is indeed faster than a centrifugal blower because of the mid-range torque, BUT how about maxing in each gear 1-4 and then holding it hard in 5th for a top speed run?
I mean does anyone have any "real world" experience comparing two similar cars with Turbos and Centri-Blowers side by side in the Corvette forum world?
What is the take on this?
Turbo vs. Centrifugal ....... in the real world. This is not a which is better....this is a what have you seen post!!!!
Chime in!!!

You guys are hilarious!!! I need to experience massive boost from that APS kit obviously in order to give me the "bliss" I am looking for. I want to be "shocked" by it. Like OMG shocked!!!!! Good job APS on the kit!!! What the hell will it do at 15 lbs.?????

As I stated via PM, I know of someone who is currently getting his C6 APS TT car a forged bottom end, and even possibily a H/C combo...this will easily push 700rwhp with the proper fuel system (APS...of course )...This will be the INSANE of INSANE rides.

When is fast....fast enough???
Obviously, the answer to that question is subjective. 500-550 RWHP is indeed fast, no one is disputing that. I am saying for me, linear type pull (while I respect it's streetability and smoothness) is awesome, but I like something that is making alot of noise (spool, BOV, lil wheel spin, etc.) and I feel is pulling me along HARD CORE like Wylie Coyote's rocket (as mentioned). I like to be scared a 'lil of the vehicle, so that it challenges me to learn from it. That is part of the fun of owning these types of vehicles. No one is going to want to drive something "too out of control" on the street, but that "bar" for me is probably set just a "tad higher" I guess. I am not inferring anything by saying that, so no one get excited. Like I said, it's just me, but of course for most people it is going to be extreme.

I think that the C5/C6 platform is so well designed and smooth that the car is deceptively fast.
For example:
Take a 1986-1993 "Fox body" Mustang 5.0 and give it 550 rear wheel horsepower and torque.
That car is going to feel SCARY fast and be ALL OVER the road.
It is going to have you laughing smiling while frequently puckering your sphincter.
But,
what the extra power is actually doing is exposing the Fox body platform's poor engineering.
I believe that the C5/C6 is not delivering the "feeling" you might be looking for because the platform was engineered so well.
After owning/driving many significantly fast cars,
I belive you cannot beat a C5/C6 with a well designed front mount turbo system. (Lingenfelter, APS, etc.)
A stock C5/C6 putting 550/550 to the wheels from a well designed turbo will stand up to ANYTHING you can compare it to based on performance, reliability, investment, and maintenance.
Based on the above considerations,
I think a no option C6 with an APS kit is the best deal going in the high performance world.
If the APS C6 doesn't give you the "feeling" you are looking for,
maybe you will need forged internals and BIG boost to satisfy your "need".
If you are truly a performance lunatic,
I recommend a new 1000cc sportbike.
You risk your life everytime you ride public roads,
but the performance and "rush" is second to none.
Hope you find what you are looking for.

As an owner of a APS TT C6, I agree that the power delivery is very smooth and linear. But for god’s sake, I lose traction in 3rd gear! I am a power junkie, but I am focusing on traction before more power/ torque.
If you want a car that "feels fast" over one that runs fast, I dunno, do 410's and enjoy the ride...?

Just curious. By any chance is this the same guy on here posting pot stirring stuff who has done this many times before under different names & we all know who that is, cause it sure sounds like the same convoluted trouble making rhetoric. Maybe it's not him(or her), just seems like it.
