I have a lot of faith in AT&SB and his extensive experience on track with these tires. Don't forget, these tests weren't done yesterday. They have been punishing and testing this tire for almost 2 years. I also have examined his "After" pictures of the test tires with serious abuse on them and my opinion is that I have seen no evidence of either shaving or chunking. Some of the pictures show some serious shoulder scrubbing but that is usually the fault of the chassis set-up and not the tire. If the car has a decent set-up for a performance car and the tire still scrubs the outside edges, it is usually caused by the grip of the tire being really good, not really bad.

Normally after ~50 laps with OEM camber settings on a tire unfriendly track street tires look & feel very bad once on the street..............I would drive home on these
This is the first street tire that has EVER gotten my attention
I will ask the PSS creators if shaving has any merit like the RA-1s
Interested in pics of your tires with a couple of track days on them. Also how the rears do with several thousand miles. My NT05 rears always wear out in the middle leaving like new tread on the sides. This is even without burnouts and running low pressure.

As Dave mentioned with any track useage the inner rib gets worn on one side (due to lateral force).

I have no complaints with the NT05 for track and street. But I am open to the idea of the PSS if it lasts longer (to compensate for the price differential) and works as well or better on the track (don't care how it acts on the street)

Default thank you

Thanks for all the feedback. I have always wanted a pair of Michelins so I just ordered a set of the Pilot Super Sports. I ended up going with the 285/345 sizes. Thanks to everyone for all your input.

Sounds like the sizes I would use. Are you going to track them at all?

How much of a dent in your wallet .................

No plans to track it yet. I payed 1761.00 for them. Ouch! The rears were back ordered but came in few days later and they were shipped today. Should have them next week. Not a real big deal becuase we just got blasted with a snow storm. Its been snowing for the past two days and now its freezing rain. Temperatures in the mid 50s for next week so hopefully spring is on its way.

Discount Tire price matched Tire Rack, and they also install (labor) for free.

I just got back from a weekend at the track with these tires and I have to say, I'm in love with them. At the skidpad on Friday, with the traction system off, I saw 1.28 g's, in Competition mode, I saw 1.24 g's. On the track, they gripped and handled incredibly well.

A special treat was that I had Mike Pettiford drive my car on the track today (man can he drive). After two laps, I checked and he was able to pull 1.28 g's. Once again, I'm in love with these tires!

1.28G is apparently the max the DIC displays on the G-meter.

If this tire is holding 1.28g without any banking or hopping over irregularities in the track, it is the best news since the repeal of Prohibition.

I friend who was with me with a Z06 and the same car setup but with NT05's was seeing around 1.10-1.11 g's at the skidpad IIRC. Though his NT05's were at the end of their lives and today was the last track day he was running with them.

Also, will edit my original post, tire pressure was 30 cold and added information on my alignment.

did you check it hot? The NT-05's like 35/34 hot and I need to start about 26 or 27 to get that.

Compare it to the Michlin PS2; Money talks and you know what walks.
Both tires have a great feel, here's something I couldn't pull off with the Nittos;

Like I said, the Nittos feel the same but the stick in the turn is not the same. I can consistently peg the car's G meter with PS2's but not with NT05's.
The Michlins shine when pushed to the limit, but destroy the life of the tire. Money Talks.
How do you get your G-meter to Lock in the G Reading? I assume thats what you did, as it would be difficult to get a pic when slamming G's and I don't think you could get 1.27 g's at 0mph.

I didn't check with my pressure gauge, but I saw the DIC showing hot readings after the 15-20 minute track sessions of 34-35. The road course I was running is 1.3 miles. Here's some stuff I pulled on the weather.

Humidity: 36%
Dew Point:34°
Pressure: 30.27 in Steady Pressure
61°F

Dave, you are correct you would need to shave, these tires are great, I ran my new stock size at Daytona for two days 8/30 min sessions, I took my NT05's and put them on day two in the am, took them off and put my PSS back on. No comparison, Ran start at 34 left and 36 right, End at 37 left and 39 right, we were told by Hoosier to run high as the new pavement was eating low pressure. I have a set of New NT05's for sale.
