Friend is PO'd: previous owner took the car above 200MPH 3x
i have a friend who bought his 06 Z06 with about 2k miles from Houston. he thought the car was absolutely mint and prestine in 100% stock condition. he started having clutch trouble @ about 3500 miles.
see this thread for details. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1509242
he got the car back today and they ended up replacing the tranny/diff/clutch. dealer said the fluid in the clutch was the wrong type (meaning it was probably replaced by first owner) and this caused a leak causing damadge to tranny
they also presented him with a print out of the black box data. the car had 3 trips to 200+ mph.
i caution anyone wanting to buy a used Z. check the black box data before buying. i would not want a car that had been driven that hard period. i dont care what anyone says about the car was built for it
a pic of his car is in the stick picky

on an unrelated note, it would be interesting to see a scan of the printout of the black box data.
this also confirms what type of info the dealer can get out of the car. big brother is always watching

I'd still take it but I am sorry that your friend is having problems. I just hope it wasn't sprayed to get to the 200 mark, and where would it have run that MPH at (legally)? It shouldn't take much (mods) but I think something would of had to be done to get it there. I would be POd too if I found out later!!!

Who care's. If it runs good and looks good that's all that matters. Also that's the risk you take when buying a used vehicle. The C6Z is what it is. I think anyone who doesn't drive the **** out of their Z should be slapped. If you don't experience what the car has to offer you are missing the whole reason all those engineers dedicated so much time making the vehicle the fortunate few of us get to own. If you want a crusier get a regular C6.

No offense but, big deal. So what. What's that? about 5000rpm in fifth? If anyone here thinks that a used Z06 wouldn't have seen 7000 rpm, you're in a dream world. I'd be ticked about the clutch but not the speed.
How did they know it wasn't the correct clutch fluid? And WHAT IS the correct fluid? I might be wrong here but I think it's the same as brake fluid. As long as it meets spec, what's the diff? And how does that cause a leak? And how does the leak cause the failure of the tranny? This all sounds like to me. I assume you had to pay for these repairs. It sounds like the dealer wanted you to pay and he made up a b.s. story. Without further detail, I'm just guess here of course.

Many of these cars will have been to HPDE's and on the drag strip. No one will ever know unless they check the black box.
Maybe dealers will start checking the black box before a trade in offer. Then they won't give us squat for the cars.
