Default Paging Verrückt-997 Whipped by C6Z06

Hey, Verrückt, I read this on the other Vette forum. What do you think?

Quote
This test is done by the swedish car magazine (Auto motor och sport)the driver is Fredrik Ekblom a swedish touring car champion. The test lasted a whole day at a Mantorp racetrack in sweden. Some translates from the test below.

-The porsche feels girlish compared to the corvette, thats probably the first time i have sad that about a porsche

-This, you might not wanna take in the final report but the corvette is pissing on the porsche

-2,6 seconds per lap thats like racing in different classes

Tracktime Mantorp racetrack (3106 meter)
Porsche 1,30,5
C6 Z06 1,27,5
End Quote

The man calls the Porsche "girlish". 3.0 seconds per lap advantage to the Z06 in a 1 and a half minute lap. What's the world coming to? Was the driver bribed by GM?

It's ok Frank.

The Z06 kicked some royal ***.

2 seconds is quite a margin. The tires were similar so it's a fair handling comparison. I don't think anyone would expect the 997 to be faster, did you?

Not surprised when tested by the same professional driver. As I said before, I think the advantage would be for the 997 for an average driver.

Mostly due to the all wheel drive. Just an opinion.

Ya, well, who cares? Even Verrückt will tell you that the 997 TT is faster from 0-60, and that is all that matters..

Sorry, I had to..

You didn't say it was a turbo or not. If it was a Carrera S, the beating would be obvious

It was a 997 Twin Turbo.

WeaponsGradeTorque posted this data of the test that was converted to English units;

MPH ----------- Z06 ------ 911TT
0-50 ----------- 3.0s ------ 2.8s
0-62 ----------- 4.0s ------ 3.7s
0-80.7 --------- 5.6s ------ 5.8s
0-99.4 --------- 7.9s ------ 8.0s
0-124 --------- 11.9s ----- 12.3s

1/4 ------- 11.8@123.65---11.8@121.1

top speed---198.8 mph----192.6 mph

So the Z06 catches the all-wheel drive 997 at the 1/4 mile and leaves it in the dust after that. (and eats it up on a road course)
