12 GS needs brakes
I purchased a 2012 Centennial GS coupe with 25K miles, my brakes started to make noise the fifth time I drove the car, took it to the dealer who told me the brakes on all 4 wheels are shot, I was told the previous owner tracked the car, they quoted me $1800 for rotors and pads (fronts and rears installed), seems very high, should I stay with stock GM parts or switch out to something different?

If you don't track I would suggest ceramic pads...dustless.

The stock GS brakes are quite good. As stated above if you do not intend to track the car yourself you may want to consider ceramic pads as they throw a lot less dust than OEM. If however you want the best performing all around pads then stick with the OEM.
Also, since you now know the extent of the repairs needed you can always call another service center to get another quote.

Bobcat 1521™ offers outstanding performance, even when cold, low dusting and low noise with an excellent initial bite. This compound’s virtually perfect linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Bobcat 1521™ operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 900°F. Bobcat 1521™ is suitable for ALL street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle, police cruiser. The Bobcat 1521™ compound has been found to last two-three times longer than OE pads you can purchase at a dealership or national retailer. That’s one of the beauties of Carbotech Ceramic brake compounds. Bobcat 1521™ is NOT recommended for any track use.

I've used these brakes on my Z28 for years and now on my Corvette. For a DD car you could not make a better choice....unless you just like wasting $$$$$.

ACDELCO rotors or similar can be had for around $55 to $65 EACH from Rockauto. Someone already mentioned amazon.com... As for pads I like the EBC Red Stuff pads...
Let me know

If you want to stop by I'm helping someone change the pads and rotors on a 2011 GS this friday. It's not hard. Give you an idea what needs to be done.

Yes. I'm aware the gs has z brakes.
I suggest checking the web.
Rockauto also has the z calipers, in red, for 268 for the rear and 310 for the front. Why pay 400+? It pays to shop around.
Thanks.
