Supersonic Blue GS Vert w/ black rims
#21
Melting Slicks
I am contemplating getting new rims for my Supersonic blue GS Vert. Which looks better, Black or Comp gray? GS snowflakes or Z06 Spyder rims (I am not a fan of cleaning the ZR1 rims).
Also, I'm having trouble finding photos of this combo other than the Carbon Limited edition.
Here she is with my chrome rims:

yep, I'm not a fan of chrome at all anymore either --
why don't you just plastidip your GS wheels 2 on one side comp gray and the other side black and see which you like better? its only like $10 a can...and you can even leave the tires mounted on the wheels....if you don't like it, just hi-pressure it off.

I appreciate the tip, and the effort to chime in. Sincerely. I just can't fathom plasti-dipping my rims.

I am like you and would not want it on my car as a permanent solution. But it allows you to see your car with different wheels for $10.

I love your current rims but I upgraded to ZR1 rims so I do understand what you want to accomplish. That said I wouldn't put black rims on that car. I don't think it will do anything for the overall look. Maybe if it was white with tine, black roof, etc. I can tell you now that I went from similar rims like yours to ZR1 rims and the ZR1 rims require more maintenance to keep clean. I would factor in ceramic brakes too since I get so much brake dust on my rims now so I will be changing out the pads soon. There is one other things you can do if you also need tires. I went with 18" ZR1 rims all around. This allowed me to run a 40 tire in the back instead of a stock 30 tire. I also went with non- fun flats. In 45 years of driving I've had two flats. I'll take my chances. Anyway, the 18" tires are less expensive but the real benefit is that the 40 tires run so much smoother than the 30 tires - that I took off the car. Both tires were Michelin and very similar. So I run the stock tires up front and a taller tires in the back. This gives me almost the same exact stagger and height as stock but the car runs much nicer with the extra meat between me and the road. Rims are lighter too so more performance. Just a thought.

Man it is your money, so don't worry about those that say leave it as is. The quickest way to change the look of your car is a new set of wheels. Nothing wrong with the wheels you have, but if you want a new look go for it.
I agree with the few that advice against the black wheels. It seems like everyone has them now even the factory original equipment on some. Black wheels look good on certain colors, but not all. I tried a photoshop on my Monterey Red coupe and I did not like the looks.
