For what I'd want to do with the car I'd pick the Z06. I don't car how much HP it has, mustangs don't do anything for me and they never have.
Just because Racer thinks the mustang sucks doesn't mean he wasn't open-minded in evaluating the car. Why mince words? He's not running for office. Call it the way you see it!

I just don't see why people want to compare a Corvette and a Mustang. The Mustang is if a different calls then the Corvette. One is a muscle car and the other a sports car. You need to decide what you a really looking for in a car.
I have never been a fan of the Blue Oval, but I am sure they make a nice car. I know everyone says always buy the newer car, but if I was in the market for a car and both were on the lot side by side for me it would not be hard. Corvette hands down.
As far as performance the Mustang is slightly quicker in the 0-60 and the quarter mile over a 2010 Z, but if I remember correctly it was like a couple of tenths in the 0-60 and a tenth in the quarter mile so that is not much when you consider the HP difference.

You also have to factor in the interior.
I really considered a 2013 GT before I bought my 06 C6 w/27k last month.
You have to think about your time in the car. I couldn't live with the Mustang dash and radio area. It is horrendous!

From the exterior, I actually like the way the mustang sits. Looks pretty good to me. And the hp ain't bad either. But like was said above, the interior, imho, sucks. Boxy. I'm in the car and that accounts for alot. But, it's what you want to use the car for that counts.

A 2013 Shelby SVT loaded Convertible retails for about 68 grand. The Ford dealers are holding out for sticker, or more on most of them. The better comparison would be with the '13 Z06 that with after rebates and discounts could be had for about the same price or less than the Shelby. A '10 Z06 would be considerably less.

If you're just using it to drive around town or as a DD I would take the Mustang. Like the Corvette, the Mustang is an American icon. It's popular around here to say "Mustangs Suck" or "I'm not a Ford guy" but you need to do what's right for you. Nothing wrong with Ford in my opinion. Many mechanics complain about them but most people are not mechanics and bring it to the shop when it needs work. On the other hand, the Z06 rocks too.

Mustang is very durable car for everyday driving/parking and costs less to maintain but has that live rear end axle which makes the ride too stiff.

that mentality is dead.
The Ford vs. Chev. mentality is used to sell bumper stickers. American V-8 is what it is all about...TORQUE....both of these are two different great animals. Have one of each and you will appreciate the other car more than just having one of them.

I had the mustang shelby 2008, and then i "upgraded" to the base GT (needed the money), and now i own z51 vette. I would prefer my vette over the 08 shelby, so my guess is that the ZO6 would be even better!
The new shelby is better then the one i owned, but still, the vette is different kind of car, it feels like the vette is much better quality! Materials, look and more. Just a different, better american car.
