Default Z06 wheels on a c6 base

I need some good knowledge and advise. I have a 2005 base that needs new tires, but I have someone selling me Z06 wheels and tires in great condition for half the price of just new tires. I love the look of the tires and I'm sure it will make my car look that much better but what's the down side?

The offset of the Z06 wheels and tires will likely crack your panels when the suspension compresses.

Those wheels and tires will not fit under the panels of your car's body when going over large bumps - causing damage.

There are quite a few threads on the web. I suggest you Bing or Google it.

Your other option (for safety) is to replace your front fenders and rear quarter panels with Z06 or Grand Sport panels. But that will cost more than new tires.

I wish you the best.

Z06 wheels will not work properly on a stock body C6. You can, however, use Z06 tires on certain properly sized and offset wheels. On the street I used to use CCW SP16A wheels, 9.5” x 18” front / 11” x 19” rear with the Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar EMT’s...275/35ZR18 front - 325/30ZR19 rear (Z06 tires). I'm sure other vendors can too but I know CCW can hook you up with the right wheels to run Z06 tires. CCW makes what they sell...a quality product at a reasonable price. They know what they're doing. Good luck!

As pointed out, the wheels won't work. Read the threads all over this Forum about tire choice. Brand new tires of your choosing might be far preferable.

Check out THIS post that has pictures of Z06-sized wheels on a non-widebody C6.

Why do you think that the pictures posted above look like the offset causes the tires to stick out of the wheelwell?

Because he has replicas. They have the offsets adjusted to work on base cars. Not the same as factory Z06/GS/ZR1 wheels.

Some here have, in fact, put wide body front fenders and rear quarter panels on their coupe or vert. Not inexpensive by any means.

Looks like I will be better off staying away from them, specially since we have more options in tires than the ones for z06

Sometimes those really good deals can get expensive.

Real Z06 wheels will NOT work on you 2005 Vette. Do not try it unless you add widebody kit.

I purchased my 2007 Coupe new. I replaced the wheels with repo Z06 rims shortly there after. Yes the tires protruded out of the wheel wells like the pictures in the thread, but I never had a single problem in almost 4 years. Last summer I did the widebody conversion on the rear. I don't think it's that much to worry about. If you like the style, get them.

Are the wheels and tires off a Z06 or are they replicas? As you can see from previous posts it makes a difference. I put Z06 replicas on my C5 and they looked great.
