Default "It's a Corvette, so obviously it's rubbish"

Long lost episode of Top Gear where Jeremy actually says he likes the Corvette and that it is "rubbish" all in the same review.

Just a suggestion - you might want to learn how to embed YouTube videos. Sometimes, the comments at the linked website have words that are a on the forum.

Here's a link to how to do it.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/help...be-videos.html

And here's an example using yours.

Thanks for the tip JimTN. I embedded it in the original post now. The web developer for the site could make it so the site parses them that way automatically.... that would be cool. It is probably on the "wishlist".

It's perfectly reasonable to both like a car for what it is and also understand that it's sub-par in many areas.

They hate mostly anything American - like everything British is top of the line.

They tend to hate most British cars too...

Also remember that Clarkson voted the ZR1 to be car of the year and owns both a ZR1 and Ford GT.

Most of the hate they have for American cars is pretty well founded, some of it is just good television. If you watch enough of it they're pretty certain to insult most cars.

Actually a pretty good review coming from him, the Rubbish remark was more tongue in cheek and his attempt at humor in the end.

Clarkson's "party line" opinion of American cars tends to be that they're a bit crude and shouldn't work at all, yet they consistently provide a very high dollars-to-fun ratio that gives them an irrefutable appeal.

One man's rubbish is another man's treasure.

Vettes are great cars and value for the money, I don't really care what some talking head has to say about them.

Agree, I kind-a like the guy. He has a typical British sense of humor and I think he really loves the car - but, he would rather be in a $300,000 machine.

I suspect many of us would ... if we could afford it. Fortunately, the Vette, at least the base Vette, offers a whole lot more bang for the buck than most cars, although the gap has narrowed significantly in the last year.

You could say the same about me, except I'm not British lol. But he usually makes excellent points and is probably the most 'trustworthy' reviewer I can think of. He's going to tell you the truth.. good or bad. And make no mistake about it, he's called plenty of $300,000 machines rubbish too! (Usually that they horrible on city streets, have clunky/akward transmissions and would suck as a daily driver).

It may sound crazy to most, but true Top Gear fans will understand my rationale.. but seeing this video and learning of JC's approval & ownership of a C6.. was one of the final decision makings points to push me off the fence to purchase one. Well that plus the C6's great looks, power, performance, mpg, cargo space, incredible price and that I actually fit it in it (many sports cars I dont fit in). I almost forgot JC also owns a Ford GT.. and again I'd agree its an absolutely great American buy!

I have no problem with him as he is just an entertainer. He beats up on most cars. P cars are one of his favorites to beat up, but they'll beat up anything that is German, Italian, French, etc, etc.

If they did a competition of running a bunch of British cars (which the British don't really own any car manufacturers any more) across the US and back probably 30% of them wouldn't make it. British joke about "dodgey" American electronics but their country is known to build electrical systems that are garbage.

Most of his audience would drop their jaws though if they said the true price for a Corvette in the US or even a Jag. They'll pay $50k for a car like the Camry or $30k for a Ford Fiesta.

That is priceless... I do think that Clarkson is an 'entertainer' and he is fun to watch... I love his 'I actually like it' comment... I'm going to look up that entire episode.. good British fun for sure!

I love the fact that it was an '05 base coupe that he was testing - and he LIKED it.

No Z06, no ZR1, nada. Pretty funny...

I watch it just for entertainment and take what they say with a grain of salt.

Some of the British cars they love to praise are complete crap.
