Hotwiring a Valentine Radar Detector
Could someone point be to a thread that describes how to hotwire a radar detector? I searched but couldn't come up with anything.

I have mine hot wired through my mirror power & ground.
You can tap any switched source with a power wire or tag the fuse box on the passenger floor.

Scott, the 'bugman' has a great site with lots of good info on many aspects of the C6. Under Radar Detector, on the left, he has complete instructions on HARD wiring a detector. I used his instructions on my Escort and all has been great for years.

And my thread on how I mounted mine:

Also, check out our DashTronix Radar Projector.
It allows you to display your Valentine 1 in the DIC and /or HUD of your C6!
The Radar Projector is a plug and play device, which powers your V1 on and off when the car turns on and off, as well as displaying your V1 in the DIC and/or HUD,

The DashTronix radar projector rocks. The Valentine has saved me more than once. It is the best radar detector that I have ever owned. The DashTronix is the absolute cleanest most elegant installation option for the Valentine unit, in my opinion. Quick and easy install. Worth five times the cost.

You can use the long cord included with the V1 if you don't want the mirror cord. Stuff it in the headliner next to the windshield on the pass side and down to the fuse box. With some effort and care it will not be visible. Buy an Add-a-Circuit at the parts store and use a fuse that is hot only when ignition is on, maybe heated seat don't remember for sure. I have done over a dozen vehicles like this including my Corvette with no problems. The Invisicord was not available years ago.

Thanks for all the info guys. Now I have another question: has anyone mounted the small 'stealth' module for a Valentine so the cord is invisble? Where did you mount the module on your C6?

I mounted my V1 to the visor clip on the passenger side and mounted the Remote on the dash, just above the driver's HVAC vent.
I used the supplied V1-to-Remote 'phone' cable and spliced an Invisicord into the middle and powered both units from the mirror.
The cable to the Remote is completely hidden with the door closed. The cable runs back to the A-pillar trim and up inside to the windshield header trim. There is plenty of room to hide a very long cable if you want to experiment with the placement of the 2 components.
This is the only pic I have.

The Dashtronix is very cool, very easy to install. But since I don't have a V1 (I'm a Passport guy) I'd have to shell out a gizzillion dollars for one of those and then buy the dtrx for another $250 or so...

If the Dashtronics solution had been available a few years ago, I would have gone that route instead of the V1 Remote.
Very well executed product.

On top of the steering column with mounting tape, wire fished alongside the column.
You need to check that moving your column up & forward won't bang the module into the dash, also that it is visible in normal driving but does not obscure the DIC. May take a few adjustments, but well worth it.

I used the V1 visor clip which went into the header, so the unit is as high as it could go, wired it to the console, then to their Remote Audio Adapter (which I hacked to run the little speaker and full-control **** to other locations) and to the Concealed Display (which I hacked to be just 1/4" thin and on top & back of the steering column). Pix attached ...

Hey guys,
Thought we would pop in here again with some new info.
We just released an amazing new feature for the DashTronix V1 Radar Projector:
Speed controlled auto mute!
When you are driving below your set speed threshold, the V1 is automatically muted.
We just made a new thread about the new speed controlled mute feature. You can view it here if you would like:
