Got mine today also. Is this really necessary??? Usually they screw up something else when trying to fix the recall. I may just skip it.

I'm having the dealer do mine before our 2011 GS is delivered. Since the 'fix' is to prevent the rear hatch from flying off in an accident, I'd rather not take the chance of getting decapitated by flying hatch debris if I get nailed.

Mine was installed today. Not a big deal.
I had a rock (yes, a rock) go right through the tread on my OEM tire less than a month after delivery. The dealership wasn't aware of the Goodyear road hazard warranty on all run-flats, so I called Chevrolet Customer Service for help. The CS rep set up the recall work directly with the dealer while they were dealing with the tire.

No recall notice yet for my 2011 C6 but I'm sure it is on the way. Not sure I want to have this done. Upon visual inspection the deck lid support brackets look good. If I get hit so hard in an accident that these brackets fail I kinda feel like I got bigger problems.

I got my letter today as well
Having done cat-back exhaust, CAI, CAGS, MGW shifter change, console remove and install and other such mods I would think it is not rocket science to change a couple of hinges, they are part# 20986700
I'll look into this further and if I proceed I'll get some pics

Are you keeping the car 20 or 30 years? If not then get the recall done. Think of the subsequent owners that you will screw by not getting the recall done.

Well, the sticker on the drivers door of my 2011 GS says that my car was manufactured in 10/2010 ... so I guess I don't have to deal with this recall.

Let the dealership get a few a of these done before you rush in they can get some experience before they get to your car and maybe not damage your car when doing the recall, if you take car in for any other service most times they automatically preform recalls without notifying you until its already done
