noisy roof question
can the noisy roof associated with the old hardware be corrected by simply installing the new hardware, ie new handles and latches?
if so how much does a new set cost?

I cannot answer your question but have a comment. I have a 2010 and the roof makes lots of noises...I think the cold temp from the winter did it.
Going to call the dealer and see what they would do if i had them take a look.

Lots of threads on top noises... definitely look at this one:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...long-post.html
My 09 was perfect when new. After a year or so, it got noisy. Fixed it myself by following the lubrication instructions (post #2) in the above thread.
I used Super Lube ($6 from Ace Hardware), some clean rags & Q-tips. Put the top on soft blankets & carpet for easy access.
A year later, mine got noisy again. Fixed it again the same way.
That is, the top needs routine maintenance lubrication.
Maybe you'll have to replace some hardware. But I'd try lubrication first -- you'll likely need to do it anyway.
And to Davelt1Coupe2010, I'd try lubing it yourself before getting the dealer involved: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...ships-fix.html

search the forum for the "e-clip" fix. I think they ar 5/32 e clips you can buy at lowes ($3) and install them. Takes two minutes and noise goes bye bye.. Lube will never hurt as well.

May seem like a strange question (but I'm not a top off guy), but what you bought a targa top vette new and never took the top off? Would one still experience the noise?
I know, I know, what's the point of having a targa top if you don't ever take it off. Some of us "fixed roof" guys tho have no interest in it (I know we're a rare breed), thus my question, as a fixed roof guy, if the top is never removed would it stay tight/quiet?

Creaking Roof
I have on '07 with about 18,500 miles. I have read many of the posts regarding this issue. The following have been done to my car in an attempt to fix the noise: adjust latches, replace latches to new style, replace entire roof panel, o-rings, shrink tube, and finally, lube weather stripping with dielectric grease pursuant to most recent bulletin. Creaking noise was there before I got out of dealer's parking lot on most recent attempt to fix problem. (and pretty much every other time the car was at the dealer for servicing on this issue) Nothing has seemed to even temporarily fix the problem. Anyone have any other suggestions or fixes? This is my 1st Vette. I am curious what percentage of people are having this type of problem with their cars (whether they fix the problem or not). I find it hard to believe that cars ranging from $47,000-$125,000 have this type of problems with their quality control. Thanks for any suggestions.

What solved this for me was putting shrink tube on the male pins then shrinking on with a lighter and then clipping off the excess in the front to get rid of the excess. This I think forced the top to be more locked in and there was no where for it to move and make noise. I used black shrink tube as it was the closest to the pin size if it matters? I think they are color coded for size or thickness?

Removing latches, replacing em, lubing em, etc...and all that other mess sounded like to much of a hassle. I follow the KISS principle. Keep It Simple Stupid.
I went to Walmart and bought a $4 can of WD-40. Sprayed some on the areas where there is metal on metal contact and bye bye roof noise. Did it two months ago and have heard a peep since. Even after a 4 hr road trip. BOOM!
And no my car doesn't smell like an old garage because of the WD-40. Spray in quick bursts to avoid excess overspray and it works great!

E clips
E clips worked on my new to me 2008 a couple weeks ago.
Had to order the super lube and we were 500 miles from home. No way could I drive that far with the noisy roof. E clips were a miracle.
BTW, the car had 1,250 miles on it when I bought it. Doubt if the roof was ever off until the fix.
