Default C6 for a Camaro

Anyone else out there trade in their C6 for a Camaro?
After ten years of driving a C5's and C6's, I decided to trade for a 2010 Camaro while I wait for the C7s to debut. I'm wondering who else has done this and how their experience has been!

I couldn't consider it even if I wanted to. The dorky moonroof that slides up over the roof and the lack of available navigation are deal breakers.

Yep, I did it. My '05 C6 didn't have many miles, about 31,000, but I really like the style of the new Camaro. I went for power and no frills, the 1SS with LS3 & 6-speed with the RS option. I'm not saying I didn't like the leather and other extras, but it wasn't worth the extra $$ to me. Not a bad car, but it's not a Vette. For now it gets a lot of looks but that will probably wear off. I'll probably keep it until the C7's come out.

The guys over at z28.com had c6 corvettes until the camaro SS released.

Jason and Chris have a z28 podcast and website.

Call them up and see if they are pleased. (they are)

That said...I wouldn't trade the corvette for a camaro ss unless you needed the rear seats.

The 45 grand Z28 556hp will be released at the detroit show in january.

You may want to wait for that to release because when it does and hits the showrooms there will be tons of camaro SS fanatics who are selling and trading in for the new z28.

Like I said..I wouldn't sell the vette for a camaro SS or Z28 but if you need rear seats then there is no better sport coupe or pony car for the money.

If I were buying a new camaro sS..I would opt for a 1ss for 31 grand and enjoy the hell out of it. Great new pony car...but still its not a vette..

hard to give up the vette if you've owned a few. They are just so dam impressive with their supercar performance at realistic prices besides..who even knows what exactly the c7 will be..

If I don't get a chance at a dual clutch in the c7? then I'll just keep enjoying my c6 z51....

hell maybe I'll supercharge it for fun if I don't buy a c7.

I think the edelbrock setup with 550 hp is an easy mod that should be reliable for everyday driving and its only 7 grand installed these days....

Good luck in whatever you decide...

the camaro is a really nice vehicle. I do remember a gentleman in the "Off topic"section who was trying to sell a red Camaro SS with minimal miles or better yet ...he wanted to trade it for a c6 because he too sold his vette for a camaro SS and regretted it.

I went the other direction - 2010 2SS M6 to a 2011 GS M6. My original thought on getting the Camaro was something like this - same engine as a Vette and $20k less! Wrong wrong wrong I was. The Camaro may have the same engine but a Vette it is not. The tranny is not nearly as good, handling is poor compared to the Vette and visibility sucks compared to anything but a tank. The instrument cluster looks like something off of a 1980's video console and NAV is not available. It's a big car, drives like a big car and parks like a big car. I will give the Camaro this - it got more looks than the Corvette, and the radio has better reception.

I wouldnt consider it. I had a 1997 Z28 and it was one of my favorite cars I have ever owned but the current model just doesnt do anything for me. I think my biggest dislike is how big and heavy the car is.

Yeah, I knew a guy that did it. He got new car fever and and traded his C6 for a new camaro SS. When buyer's remorse set in and he realized what he had done, he hung himself.

True story.

God no!
In fact, I test drove an Orange 2SS and wasn't very pleased with the feel, the steering wheel(just didn't fit the hands), or the height of the dashboard(and I'm 5'11"). Told the salesman about it and his words to me were "well, it's not a Corvette".......exactly!
So, after months of searching, I bought a used 07 Coupe, with performance mods. No way that Camaro LS3 is faster than this LS2....no way! Handles better, better ride, everything as far as I'm concerned. Looks better too!
Get what you want.....I'll stick with the C6.

NO! EFF-IN WAY!!!!

I sold my 2005 C6 and went car shopping, I thought the Camaro SUCKED! ....not to mention for the same money $30K I bought a low mileage almost new 2008 C6.

I am glad I stuck with the Vette....

If I ever go back to a pony car it will be the Challenger or the Mustang. Even though I just bought my wife a 2011 Malibu for Christmas, since GM killed Pontiac I'm not a huge Chevy fan....except for the Corvette. Really GM made me mad when they did away with the engine/drivetrain specific models...I had a fondness for the Pontiac engine.

The Malibu seemed to me to be the best value in its class...The Camaro not so much.

Nope...but would love to trade my low miles 06 for a 08 or newer...3LT Z51, or even a used GS with low miles...

Sold my '03 Z06 and went a couple years with a '07 Toyota Tundra. Corvette itch was getting really bad and I sold my Tundra and picked up a brand spanking new 2010 Camaro 2SS MN6. A bit of a novelty but didn't do a thing to quench the Corvette thirst - kept it for 6 months, sold it, and bought a '06 Z06. Thrilled, again.

I drove a 2011 SS a couple of months ago and it reminded me of driving a rent a car. It had 26 more HP than my Corvette but in no way felt like it. It also did not handle very well. The speedometer looked like one you would see in a Cavalier or something. I guess the Corvette has spoiled me and no way would I trade for a Camaro.

I drove a rental Camaro. Power was okay for a 6-cylinder. But the outward visibility was terrible -- especially to the rt & lt rear quarters. Very scary backing-up.

I've driven lots of cars & trucks in 40+ years. For me, the visibility was so bad that I'd never buy a Camaro.

Also, the guy at the rental counter said the Camaros were getting lots more-than-usual rear scraps & fender-benders.

If I was trading for a pony car, I'd get a Mustang.
