Just a fun story involving the c6...
I was driving home last Saturday from a small party. My friend had been drinking, so I offered to give him a ride home. We were close to the house, and I came to a stop sign. I took off in a spirited manner, but nothing close to full throttle. My friend goes, "Wow! That was fast!" I laughed and replied, "That was nothing. I barely got on it." We continued for a minute then I asked, "You wanna see what it can really do?" He said, "Sure, if you don't kill us." I explained that I wouldnt do anything crazy. So, we diverted down to this local backroad that is perfectly straight for 2 miles with NO roads turning onto it. Also, at midnight, it'd be totally empty. When we get there, I come to a stop and downshift to first. I ease into the launch, then at about 10mph I hammer it, and wind out 1st and 2nd gear, then let out. He goes "HOLY SH*T!" I hung a U and did the same thing again. He was silent this time.
We were almost home and he says, "Man, I've never felt anything like that. I didnt even know cars were capable of doing that. It felt like we were in a fricken' plane."
And that is exactly why I love fast cars.

Did that with a buddy of mine who is also a Harrier Pilot. Just WOT in 1st gear and half of 2nd to keep it within speed limits. After the initial "Holy S**T", simply stated " now I know why people buy sports cars"

I never had a fast car until I bought my 05. I also did not know a car was capable of such a high speed. I remember my test drive calling it a rocket ship.

My rides with first-timers always include a jaunt on the interstate, so that I can go from zero to merge speed on the on-ramp. They're always impressed by the acceleration, but they are also impressed at the g-force on the circle exit, and how fast the car can go while still sticking like glue.

I use the on-ramp and clover leaf the same way. On-ramp gets the big eyes, clover leaf get the early grab of the door handle and then the release when they realize we're not going off the road....classic.
