My seat is killing my lower back!
Can anyone suggest a good replacement? I'm not racing my car, but it's my DD. There's just not enough lower back support. Any good suggestions?

That's what I use, my car is my dd too. Granted I'm not a big guy and yes egress is a bit difficult but I'm now used to it. The sparco roadster is a good option since it has lower sides for easier ingress/egress. All I can say is almost 4k miles later and alot spent in bumper to bumper traffic for hours...a better seat = less fatigue in addition to nice support and confidence in hard cornering.

I must have gotten the El Cheapos since my '07 is the just the base model with the Z51 package. Don't get me wrong, I love my Vette, it's just killing my back. I can't believe I like the cheap seat in my Mazda Protege5 better than my vette.

I have have the 3LT 6 way power adjustable heated seats in mine, with the lumbar supports adjusted and the Butt warmers on, I find sitting in my vette very relaxing on my back after a long day at work. Good luck finding a seat that works for you. let us know if you find something good.

3 LT seats
I have an 09 Z with 1000 miles on it. I have the entire interior out of the car now doing a conversion to the 3LT seats. I was very lucky to get a set out of an 08 recovered theft with only 400 miles on it. I am switching the the seat covers out to the Z covers and I will then have Lumbar and bolster power seats on both sides. Not really a bad job to do at all. I had to run a power wire to passenger seat.

My lower back has always bothered me on a trip regardless of what car I was driving. Be it my wife's 2005 Malibu LT, my 2003 Jaguar S-Type, or previously owned cars. I drove my 2009 Vert with 4LT from Bowling Green to Southern California and I did not suffer any back discomfort during the entire trip. I feel that the way that the seats can be adjusted was the reason for the comfort.

We have several Corvette owners in this area that have commented on how the Base seats are hard on the back. Call a large Junk Yard/Salvage Yard in your area and tell them what you are looking for. If nothing found just ask them who the Big Yard is in the area that likes to deal in Corvettes. Maybe some of the Corvette Forum Vendors might be able to help you out also. You might try an Upholstery shop, can they do anything for you... Good Luck, Paul...

I've posted multiple threads on this. Most people deny the problem, but it's very real and kudos to you for recognizing it.
BTW: I paid a professional upholster $850 to completely reconstruct my stock driver's side seat. It LOOKS stock, but it feels much, much better.

I have an '09 with the 2LT seats. The seats in my 2009, $13,600 Toyota Yaris are more supportive, more comfortable and better made.
Here are some pics of what's inside a 2LT/3LT/4LT seat, along with the write-up explaining why they are junk:

My seat is killing my lower back!
My seats are the '05 1sb, comparable to the later 3lt seats with the sport look and lumbar controls. Still my lower back hurts and I'm very athletic (I run marathons and bench 240#.)
I even had the cushion/leather-top replaced so my seats are like new; still get some back ache if I spend time in them.
I think if you're the type that gets lower back pain (as I do) there's little you can do about it. My Sebring Ltd had absolutely great seats and my back hurt with them also on trips.

Go to your local chiropractors office and ask them for a lumbar pillow that is designed just for driving. I had one recovered in leather that matched my interior.I could NEVER drive my Vette without it. IF the pillow is too big then either trim it before recovering or use a smaller conventional pillow. Good Luck.

The 2LT/3LT/4LT seats suck, too. (All three use the same, ahem, "sport seats.")

Drifting
My back starts to hurt 20 minutes after I get in the car (C6 2LT) if I stay longer it is followed by a more severe pain , I love the car that is why I still have it , but no car I have ever driven has caused this kind of discomfort. Afriend was going to work on the seats to see if he can improve them but seems like he has postponded the project to next summer. I will probably be able to breakin the engine then.
