Default Tire wear

On the tires that come on the 08 C6, with normal conservative driving, what kind of mileage are you guys getting before replacing them.

If it's a Z51, which comes with GY Supercar tires, 15-20K is about tops. Some people manage to wear them out in half that, or I should say some people manage to wear out the rears in half that, but that's because they're laying rubber in front of the Dairy Queen.

The regular tires last a lot longer; some people say 30K-40K. I wouldn't know; I don't have those.

My Z51 tires have about 16K miles, I expect to get about 20K at the most.

They wear out faster than most tires.

Got 30K on my C5 Goodyears. I'll be happy with 25K on the '08 coupe. Just need to drive another 23K to find out if they last.

I put 22000+ on my first set. I replaced them with a few thousand more miles to spare.

I have 21500+ on my second set and they are good for at least 10000 more miles. Most of my miles are highway, with a few burnouts, and a few spirited twisty mountain roads trips.

I just had my tires r&r'd yesterday.'05 Z51,the originals went 18000 miles with out any real hard driving. The right front was pretty well worn on the inside and the others were down almost to the wear bars.I replaced them with the standard suspension GY's and ordered them from Tire Rack.com.Deeper tread depth and not as soft rubber compound. My dealer installed them and did the alignment. I highly recommend Tire Rack,I ordered them in the afternoon and the next morning they were at my doorstep and I saved almost $100 per tire compared to the price my dealer quoted.

While I don't have an '08, I did replace the original tires on my '06 (A6) when I hit 25,000 miles. I could have gone farther, but I just thought it was time for some new ones. I put on some Kuhmos, not run flats, but so far, so good after 5,000 miles.

My '07 base suspension with the Goodyear GS D2 non-Supercar tires have just over 20K miles. From the tread wear so far, they should make 30K miles before I have to think seriously about replacing them.

My 2005, Z51, got about 11,000 miles, the rears were bald when I changed them.

Default Tire mileage

I had GY F-1s On my 07 Z-51. 22,000 when replaced. 3/32 on the front and 4/32 on the rears. Right front was worn on the inside corner. Apparently a belt separation and slightly out of balance. I could have gone several thousand more but with the rain in the NW coming, I changed to Mich. PS-2s, non-RF. They are quieter too.

A lot depends on how you drive the car, the typical road surface you drive on, and the outside temperature.

I'm in N.E. area. My '00 has 23k+ miles on the original tires and it looks like they still have a long ways to go. I do not drive the car hard and most of the miles are highway driving.

On my 2006 base coupe I replaced the fronts at 23,000 miles with BFG G-Force KDW. The OEM rears look like they'll be good for 35,000 miles. Based on other reports from forum members, it isn't unusual to wear out the fronts long before the rears, even with no alignment problems or racing. No idea why.

I thought I'd get 30K out of my GS2s. What I couldn't see was the inside front corners where the factory alignment apparently causes heavy wear. When I picked up a nail on the right front last week, that's where it was thinnest. Sadly at 25K it was not repairable. Fortunately I had a 'spare' set of GS-2s on chromes I picked up a couple of years ago, and that right front is running up a few miles until my Pirelli Sottozero winter tires arrive.

My Z51 tires have 20,000 miles on them and the fronts need to be replaced due to the front end alignment was off and I didn't catch it in time. I had it done at about 15,000 miles. I want Firestone's and ordered them from tire rack but their on back order. The rears should go to 30,000.

I replaced my Z51 tires at 19K when I noticed the fronts were down to the cords on the inside. Replaced them with the same tire because the "base" tire was back ordered (this was in Feb 2008). Next time I'll go with the base tire, I think...

15,000 miles and no appreciable wear noted. I had my alignment set to almost no toe and -0.10 for camber on all 4 wheels.

After these wear out, I'll get the GY GSD3 Run on Flat tires. Better mileage from those and great traction.
